B THE PROMISE OF CHRISTIAN SALVATION This is the second lesson in this unit of work, , in
previous years students have explored a similar unit

B1 Jesus showed that he was special In the previous lesson students looked at what made
human life special and how God created humans to
be special.

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
 Verbally tell the teacher at least one idea of what made Jesus special
 Contribute a minimum of 2 ideas to a class brainstorm about what made Jesus special after reading bible
verses
 Create an outfit for Jesus that shows at least one feature of Jesus being special

1. Read Luke 1:31, 35 and Matthew 1:20-25 as a class.

2. Discuss with students how these two stories show that Jesus is

3. Make a brainstorm on board with ideas that students come up
with about why and how these stories depict Jesus as special.
Explain that Jesus was made in the image and likeness of God.
Explain that Mary is the mother of Jesus
how did these two stories make Jesus special?
Pose wonder question:
I wonder why Mary was chosen as the mother of Jesus?
I wonder why Jesus was chosen to be the son of God?
4. Put students into small groups to complete activity
5. Explain activity to students:
The students activity today will be to create an outfit for Jesus
Materials
that helps to display everything that makes him special they are
first going to draw a sketch of the outfit and then they are going
to create a doll sized version of the outfit using materials such
as felt and fabric

Students may need more than one lesson to complete the doll
sized creation of their outfit.

mins Students will write a prayer that is about Jesus being special and before
lunch students will say the prayer.
