2018.

Good evening,

Please see the following statement issued by Superintendent Obeng:

"Following the public release of the Vermont Agency of Education's charges against Burlington
High School Guidance Director Mario Macias, Mr. Macias will be placed on Administrative leave
pending the completion of the AOE process.

This leave will ensure that all parties involved will have the opportunity to engage in this process
without disruptions while maintaining the climate and positive learning and working environment
at Burlington High School."

Please see the following statement issued by the Burlington School Board of Commissioners:

"The Burlington School Board respectfully acknowledges the formal charges set forth by the
Vermont State Agency of Education.

The law prohibits the board from taking any direct employment action against Mr. Macias. Such
action is under the authority of Superintendent Obeng, and the board endorses Superintendent
Obeng's decision to place Mario Macias on administrative leave."

Any questions regarding either statement can be directed to the Superintendent’s Office at
802-865-5332.

Thank you,

--
