Year 9 HPE Cultural Task

Assessment Conditions

Part A: Investigate, Reflect and Apply Investigate


Students will research and investigate ONE physical activity from the Asian region (see map below). Their
investigation should include the following:
 Investigate the history of the physical activity: Timeline format – progression of game over time
 How did the physical activity originate (what was its purpose?)
 How has the physical activity changed over time?
 What is the current standing of the physical activity?
 Recreational activity
 Professional league with development path
 Olympic Sport
 Provide references of websites used

Reflect
From your investigation reflect on how your chosen sport has had an impact on Asian culture with
reference to the following criteria
• In its local region (e.g increase in participation)
• Across the nation (e.g. strength and popularity of national league)
• Globally – (think Western culture coming into the country e.g. economic, tourism)

Part B: Plan and Present


Students will need to plan and present their Part A in a multi-media presentation of their choice e.g.
powerpoint, weebly, powtoon, prezi, Piktochart or A3 poster. This will be a combination of written or typed
/ diagram report with a maximum word count of 500 words
