Stainless Spring Steel JED
050M
Previous Edition Abbreviated Title
2005-09 Stainless spring steel 852 000 500 4

1 Scope
The specification refers to cold-worked round spring steel wire from stainless steel in the following
types:

JED-050M0 with normal tensile strength, for the manufacture of springs;

JED-050M1 with high tensile strength and fatigue limit, for the manufacture of springs.

Springs according to both types have to be tempered after winding.

The specification also refers to cold-worked strips from stainless steel in the following types:

JED-050M0 for the manufacture of springs. For springs wich are made from strips,
tempering after manufacturing is not mandatory according for this type.

JED-050M2 for the manufacture of springs. Tempering after the springs are manufactured
has to be done.

JED-050M3 with lower tensile strength, for the manufacture of clamps.

If JED-050M is indicated on the drawing, JED-050M0 shall be applied.

2 General requirements
The finished parts shall be homogeneous and free from pores, blisters and other defects, the parts
shall have a smooth surface according to the applied shaping process. The parts must not show any
defects such as cracks, voids, etc. within their structure.

The requirements for finished parts can be taken from the drawing and the special part specification.

This specification lists minimal properties resulting as a summary from different national and
international standards. For the supply of products only one of those materials may be chosen which
is released in one of the documents „Release of Material“ belonging to this specification. If narrower
limits for the material properties than defined in this specification or additional requirements are
defined in the standards referenced there, these narrower limits are binding for deliveries and the
additional requirements are valid as well.

3 Thermal range of application
