REPORTS TO: Refuse Supervisor DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Grade Level| - Performs the duties of the classification, Grade Level II - Responsible for an assigned refuse collection route and performs the duties of the classification. Grade Level Ill - Performs the duties of the classification; terminal grade level (formerly Sanitation Crew Member I) Grade Level IV - Responsible for an assigned refuse collection route and performs the duties of the classification; terminal grade level (formerly Sanitation Crew Member Il and Refuse Truck Driver), EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: ~ + Lifts and empties refuse containers: ‘© Operates a refuse collection truck; © Sets compaction blade to onsure capacity loading: ‘© Prevents littering of streets; ‘= Dumps loads at disposal sites according to assigned schedules; * Observes prescribed weighing and dumping procedures; ‘Practices safe lifting methods and may instruct others: * Observes and enforces safety regulations: Washes and cleans truck and truck beds; * Checks truck with pre- and post- inspection checklists and reports in writing mechanical defects of ‘equipment; ‘+ Refers customer complaints to supervisor; * Tags containers not in compliance with City codes: ‘+ Reports on unsatisfactory conditions of refuse containers; ‘+ Prepares written reports as required; ‘+ Performs other related duties as required.
