ABSTRACT
This project includes application of concepts of clamping of
electronic circuits. All the applications are here explained with
the help of MULTISIM software. The application includes
solved problems related to clamping of circuits. In electronics,
A clamper is an electronic circuit that fixes either the positive or
the negative peak excursions of a signal to a defined value by
shifting its DC value.

OBJECTIVE
Q1. Design a clamper circuit using diode, capacitor, resistor etc.
The input to the clamper circuit is a square wave with 10 V and
6 V peak to peak whose frequency is 1 KHz and 10 KHz
respectively. Choose appropriate values of the capacitor and
resistor. Use MultiSim software to design the circuit.

INTRODUCTION

CLAMPERS:
A clamper is an electronic circuit that fixes either the positive or
the negative peak excursions of a signal to a defined value by
shifting its DC value.
The clamper does not restrict the peak-to-peak excursion of the
signal, it moves the whole signal up or down so as to place the
peaks at the reference level. A diode clamp (a simple, common
type) consists of a diode, which conducts electric current in only
one direction and prevents the signal exceeding the reference
value; and a capacitor which provides a DC offset from the
stored charge.
The capacitor forms a time constant with the resistor load which
determines the range of frequencies over which the clamper will
be effective.

MULTISIM
NI Multisim (formerly MultiSIM) is an electronic schematic
capture and simulation program which is part of a suite of circuit
design programs, along with NI Ultiboard. Multisim is one of
the few circuit design programs to employ the
original Berkeley SPICE based software simulation. Multisim
includes microcontroller simulation (formerly known as
MultiMCU), as well as integrated import and export features to
the Printed Circuit Board layout software in the suite, NI
Ultiboard.
Multisim is widely used in academia and industry for circuits
education, electronic schematic design and SPICE simulation.

DESIGN ISSUES

We will have to ground the circuit at two points to make the

circuit work, otherwise an error is displayed.

CONCLUSION

We have successfully stimulated the circuits and verified how

the diode performs logically in theoretical as well as practical
with the use of MultiSim software.
