UMBILICAL DESCRIPTION

General Description
The umbilicals are separated in 2 types: 4-off Production Umbilicals (PROD) and 1-off Subsea
Isolation Valve/Riser Integrity Monitoring System (SIV/RIMS) Umbilical. The umbilical data sheets are
available in Ref [9] and [10]. Each umbilical is pulled into a dedicated I-tube.
Each umbilical is composed of a BS connected to the bottom of I-tube and a Pulling head secured
topside on top of an I-tube.
See below typical view of the umbilical between the FPSO and sea bed (and over the subsea arch).

The functional components for each of the 4-off Dynamic Main Production Umbilicals are detailed in
table 2.1 below.

SUMMARY OF THE SCOPE OF WORK AND SERVICES
The Scope of Work for the performance of the activities in this CONTRACT includes:

Provided manpower is requested to be reasonably flexible to adapt to the various task throughout the
project phases.
Marine Spread will be provided by CONTRACTOR and is not included in SUBCONTRACTOR’S
Scope of Work. Marine Spread will include Floatel and Supply Vessels.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall adhere to the provisions set forth by the applicable laws and decrees within
the force of law.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall meet the prescriptions and obligations of environmental legislation, and
execute the operations in such a way to mitigate the impact on the environment. Strict attention shall
be given to the equipment & tools complying with environmental requirements.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall be working in accordance to offshore Hook-Up schedule in conjunction with
CONTRACT drawings and comply with Codes, specifications as well as Safety at Work.
Detailed responsibilities of SUBCONTRACTOR and CONTRACTOR are described in document the
Responsibility Matrix.
Working shifts are as follows:
• Offshore onboard the FPSO: 24 hrs divided into 12-hr day and night shifts, 7 days a week

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL


SUBCONTRACTOR shall operate a quality management system in compliance with ISO 9001:2008
(or 9001:2015) and CONTRACTOR Quality Management Requirements for VENDORS.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall prepare and submit for approval to CONTRACTOR Inspection and Test
Plans (ITPs) for offshore Hook Up activities as described in CONTRACTOR Quality Management
Requirements for VENDORS.
The system shall ensure that Quality Management and Quality Control of the WORK as a whole is
applied from inception to completion of the WORK.

PROCUREMENT
As Base Case, all incorporated materials and equipment are to be provided by CONTRACTOR
excpect for the following material that have to be procured by SUBCONTRACTOR:
1. Fiber optic splicing kit;
2. 16mm2 armoured quad connection materials;
3. Labeling and other small consumables.

OFFSHORE HOOK-UP ACTIVITIES


Hook-up shall include dismantling and installation of all the material and work required to fulfil the
hook up works including ancillary or temporary services that are necessary for the completion of the
FPSO modification under CONTRACTOR’S management.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall provide Labour, Construction Equipment, Tools, Instruments, Consumable
materials, temporary facilities and Hook up services at work site.
Initial status: Topside termination will be secured on riser porch and Pull in head already removed
Cable / FO seals will have been removed (by pre-com)
Tubes left at ambient pressure (copy of ITP filled in and signed)
The Services shall include but are not limited to:
• Preparatory works;
• Review of precommissioning certificates (e.g.: insulation, continuity, fiber optic Time Domain
Reflectometry…) before to start the hook up; Comment [AQ6]: Which tests?

• Verification of initial status and line identification (tag) of cables, lines, JB, tube.
• Visual inspection (discoloration on tubes, cable outer sheath damaged...).
• Removal of upstream tubing protection (blind flange or cap).
• Electrical cable Activities;
• Instrument cable and fiber optic Activities;
• Hydraulic tubing activities;
• Mechanical completion;
• Any other services And /Or facilities required to complete the WORK.
Provided manpower is requested to be reasonably flexible to adapt to the various tasks throughout
the project phases.

Equipment and Consumables


SUBCONTRACTOR’S scope of supply includes (based on its estimation on CONTRACTOR supplied
drawings) the provision of all consumables/installation material, fittings and accessories (complete
with relevant certificates) required to complete the WORK and not being already provided by
CONTRACTOR.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall provide the list of construction equipment with power capacity, tools,
consumables to be mobilized offshore and provide calibrations (originals or certified true copy) of
equipment and tools as required.
CONTRACTOR will provide office space close to the working areas aboard the FPSO.
CONTRACTOR will provide space inside warehouse containers for the storage of consumables and
project materials before their installation.

Scaffolding
Scaffolding will be provided and is under the responsibility of FPSO CONTRACTOR.

General Description of Work (electrical cables) on UMB-PR01/02/03/04


The activity consists in the laying, termination and connection of the MV electrical cables (pigtail) from
the umbilical pulling head at the Connection Deck level to the junction boxes at the Hull Deck level.

Before start of the activities, SUBCONTRACTOR and CONTRACTOR shall review the test certificates
of these umbilicals.
Installation and connection of the earthing cables to their appropriate locations.

All Cable trays should be already pre-installed by others. Anyway it’s in the scope of work of vague

Cable tray shall have covers, and outdoor vertical cable trays shall have covers fitted on both sides.
Covers shall be secured in place with stainless steel banding (12 mm wide), shall be installed at
intervals not to exceed 0.5 m (3 ft.) of cover length, with a minimum of 6 bands per cover.
Cable trays shall be fixed using relevant hold down clamps secured with 316 stainless bolts, nuts, flat
washers, lock washer (on nut end), according to the cable trays installation details.
Cables end, both on cable and drum, shall be covered and properly protected after cut. Cables shall
be installed in order to maximize the straightness.
PVC coated 316 Stainless Steel cable ties (Panduit or similar) shall be used for fastening cables in
outdoor locations and shall be resistant to ultraviolet radiation.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall be responsible for all costs of cable damaged due to mishandling during
cable pulling.
Medium voltage termination shall be executed by qualified, certified personnel, including all the
operations needed to realize the terminations in the most appropriate manner, using the specific kits
and following the manufacturer’s specifications.
Engraved 316 stainless steel marker plates shall be provided on both ends of cables, fixed with 316
SS PVC coated cable ties.
Any extra length of cable shall be cut only after approval from COMPANY.

General Description of Works (fiber optic) on UMB-PR01/02/03/04


The activity consists in the laying, termination and connection of the fibre optic (pigtail) from the
umbilical pulling head at the Connection Deck level to the junction boxes at the Hull Deck level.

including all the operations needed to realize the terminations in the most appropriate manner, using
the specific kits and following the manufacturer’s specifications.
If special liquid or material is required to perform the fibre optic splicing the safety datasheet shall be
provided to verify with HSE department the use of these substances in hazardous area.
Any extra length of cable shall be cut only after approval from COMPANY.

GENERAL Description of Works (Hydraulic connection) on UMB-
PR01/02/03/04 and SIV/RM
The activity consists in the connection and tightening of flanges and fittings of the super duplex tubes
at the umbilicals pulling heads.
Before start of the activities, SUBCONTRACTOR and CONTRACTOR shall review the test certificates
and dimensional reports of these umbilicals and tubing layout FPSO side. Comment [AQ15]: Which tests?

Execution of mechanical completion as required by project documentation


All fittings and flanges will be provided by CONTRACTOR.
Engraved 316 stainless steel marker plates shall be provided on end of tubes, fixed with 316 SS PVC
coated cable ties.

Mechanical Completion Activities


Mechanical completion of the WORK is achieved when all installation activities, including connections,
identification tags, cleaning are fully completed and verified with requirements defined in project
specification, in engineering drawings and in pre-commissioning manual.
Since no tests are included in this scope of work the mechanical completion activities are limited to
verification of installation like: wiring verification, correct installation, cable connections…
For such purpose, SUBCONTRACTOR shall nominate a reference person to work with
CONTRACTOR’S representative in the execution of all testing activities, as per CONTRACTOR’S
work instruction.
Such person shall also be in charge of all punch list items found during testing and control and will be
responsible for works to be done to close such punch list items.
Activities shall be performed in accordance with QC Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and
SUBCONTRACTOR shall fill the check sheets as per Quality System requirement.
Installation will be considered incomplete, if such check sheets are not duly filled-in and submitted by
SUBCONTRACTOR and signed-off by all relevant parties.
CONTRACTOR/COMPANY or their authorized representatives will be present at the site during
construction. They will be checking SUBCONTRACTOR’S workmanship, installation, etc. Any
deficiency/non-conformity either highlighted verbally or in writing shall be attended to immediately by
SUBCONTRACTOR.
Upon completion of any installation or portion of the WORK, SUBCONTRACTOR shall promptly
inform CONTRACTOR for inspection. Any non-conformity highlighted shall be attended to
immediately and offered for re-inspection after remedial action(s) have been implemented.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall use Check Sheets and Test Report formats provided to
SUBCONTRACTOR by the CONTRACTOR to get the installation inspected and signed-off for every
item and area offered for inspection.
Acceptance of any installation and acceptance of total mechanical completion at site shall not relieve
SUBCONTRACTOR of his responsibility and obligation. All activities are to be completed strictly in
accordance with project specifications, data sheets, drawings, standards, codes and other applicable
documents and approved applicable industrial practices.
Any defect, deficiency, inadequacy, incompleteness, loss, failure, fault, error or omission in the
WORK (or any part thereof) and/or the facilities (or any part thereof), or otherwise any aspect of the
WORK and/or the facilities which is not in accordance with the CONTRACT are registered in the
Punch List.
SUBCONTRACTOR shall fix such punch list items promptly & regularly. Such items shall be offered
for re-inspection and punch lists given shall be returned with remarks showing action taken and latest
status. SUBCONTRACTOR shall attend to all punch list items and get them cleared by
CONTRACTOR/COMPANY. Any outstanding punch list items not cleared before the issuance of the
Completion Certificate(s) shall be treated as deficiencies.
