September 11, 2001, it started out like any other New York morning abuzz with activity.

Now imagine that you are one of the 92 passengers on American Airlines flight 11, its 8:00 a.m.

and take off-time to Los Angeles. With everything seeming ok the pilot takes off not realizes that

he has five terrorists of the Taliban sent to strike fear into our nation. At 8:45 a.m. this plane

crashed into one of the Twin Towers in New York, we only found out that the plane was

hijacked just five minutes earlier. This first crash started everything, the collapse of the two

towers, four planes going down, and the loss of nearly 3,000 American lives. Where those towers

once stood there is nothing but rubble and the souls and tears of those who were trapped inside.

We call this place ³Ground Zero´ and it is our way of remembering the victims of that day, but

now there is a plan to build a Muslim Mosque practically right on top of it. In my opinion this

decision is immoral and wrong to be even considered, let alone to go through with it.

It is understood by the first amendment that we have the right to freedom of religion.

There is such a thing as a limit though, and the ones building this so-called ³Mega Mosque´ are

way outside it. The argument given is that Ground Zero is quote ³Just another Piece of land.´

Lets think about this statement, is a place where 2,700 men, women, and children lost their lives

really just another piece of land? I don¶t think so, but I do think that we as citizens need to voice

our opinions on this.

My father is a police officer and I just couldn¶t imagine loosing him like other children

who lost theirs. These children are proud of their parents though, because they know that their

mothers and fathers died being heroes. These brave men and women gave their lives to save

those of complete strangers. 346 rescue workers, 346 fathers and mothers never coming home.
Put yourself in the places of their families and ask yourself this, would you want a mosque built

where they died?

Another reason why the mosque should not be built near ground zero is that it will only

further worsen the already exicsting religious tentions. The majority of Americans are of

Christian faith and there has always been tension between Muslims and Christians. This is an

addition to the fact that numerous terrorist groups have committed heinous acts in the name of

Islam. It has also been rumored that the funding for this project comes from the same group that

funded the 9-11 attacks. Any citizen of the United States should be appalled at the idea of

terrorists building their victory trophy on our land.

In Muslim culture it is tradition to build a Mosque where land was defeated. That is

exactly what is happening here and we can¶t let them think that they have won America. Think

these words over and then decide if you can let the phrase ³This is the governments problem,´

escape your lips. If you can then you are speaking lies because we as Americans cannot let our

own leader allow this disrespect to happen, we need to voice our opinions as loud as we can for

our country.
