Operating Manual EP-1 Grease Pump

Overview

System description

With a progressive central lubrication system, the lubricant is progressively distributed to the
individual lubrication points by main and secondary distribution blocks. Beka progressive systems
are designed to deliver oil, fluid greases and multi-purpose greases up to NLGI-cl. 2 (PLEASE NOTE:
NO GRAPHITE GREASE ALLOWED). The progressive system operates with pressures of 10-300 bar.

System construction

A progressive system consists mainly of a central lubrication pump, progressive distributor blocks
and a timer.

Function

The EP-1 pump is electrically driven by either a 12v or 24v motor. The electrical motor drives the
eccentric unit (A). A stirrer (B) rotates the lubricant and forces it down into the pump housing. A
piston driven pump element (C) is connected to the eccentric unit. When the eccentric unit is in
motion, the attached piston unit is pushed in and out, allowing the lubricant to be transferred
through the pump element into the main distribution lines to the main distributor blocks.

The lubricant flows through all the individual distributor segments to piston I. The piston is shifted to
the right and the lubricant is pushed through the pistons right pressure chamber to the outlet (1).
The lubricant is then delivered to outlet 2 and 3 through the progressive movement of piston II and
piston III.

The lubricant is then directed to the left pressure chamber of piston I and delivered to outlet 4.
Piston II and piston III are shifted to the left and the lubricant is delivered to outlet 5 and outlet 6.

After the lubricant has been delivered to outlet 6, the next cycle then starts.

The same principle of operation applies to the secondary distribution blocks.

For system monitoring and cycle count, a proximity switch will be attached to the main distribution
block. In the event of a system blockage, the proximity switch will send a signal to the timer until the
blockage has been removed.

The Bekalube timer is fitted inside the cab. The pump running time, pause time and cycles are set on
the timer according to the required amounts of lubricant per machine.

GREASE POT EMPTY

In the event of the grease container being empty, an alarm will sound in the cab, the system will
shut down, and “grease pot empty” notification will appear on the timer screen.

PROXY FAULT

In the event of a blockage in the system, an alarm will sound in the cab, and “proxy fault”
notification will appear on the timer screen.
