Aaron Siskind
Aaron Siskind is important because his early work as a social documentary

photography is best seen in his contributions to the Harlem Document (1932-40), a

survey of life in Harlem Siskind also identified with the flatness of the picture plane,

but intensified his approach to picture making-with close-up framing, as well as

emphasis on texture, line, and visual rhymes-creating abstract images or the real

world.

Aaron Siskind birth information: He was born in December 4, 1903 in New York,

NY. His mother and father are unknown for I don’t know what reason but who

would want to hide their family name from people. Aaron Siskind has 5 other

siblings and in total it is 6.

Some of Aaron Siskind important events are he was gifted a camera at his wedding

in 1930. He started taking pictures at Bermuda in his honeymoon. Siskind joined the

faculty of the institute of Design in Chicago in 1951, taking over as head of the

photography program in 1961 Callahan left.

Aaron Siskind accomplishments were in 1966; he became the recipient of John

Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship for Creative arts-photography.

One of Siskind quotes was “photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.

What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long

after you have forgotten everything.”

Aaron Siskind personal information; it is believed that Siskind died of a stroke at

his home in Providence; at age 87 he was survived by a daughter.

I like this picture because it is a terror levitation.

I think this picture is pretty aesthetic because the

rocks look so perfect and stacked over each other not falling.

This is Aaron Siskind. This picture shows the type of camera

he used to take such amazing pictures.
