Core values:
Considering all the facts which I have studied and seeing the strategic location of
big bazaar , I can say, that the location is the best. Firstly it is in the heart of the
Palakkad city. Secondly it is in a shopping mall, which has all types of customers
coming in and their, footfalls, being easily converted into sale, by the efficient
employees of big bazaar. More over it is at the place where traffic inception is
high. It is near to the K.S.R.T.C bus stand, which gives it another competitive
advantage over its competitors. Transportation is also good ,as one can easily
reach big bazaar through auto, private vehicles etc.
Furniture bazaar:

Dressing table, Mattresses, etc.

pouch, etc.

VENDORS:
There are two types of vendors. One is local vendors and the other one is outside
vendors. A separate time schedule is allotted for vendors. Accordingly they deliver
the products. Vendors send their goods to Central Distribution Channel. Some
vendors such as LEVICE apparels send their goods directly through courier from
various manufacturing unit.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT:
The supply chain process is operated by Central Distribution Channel. From there
goods are supplied to every Big Bazaar Store. There is separate distribution
channel for Electronics and furniture, which is known as Home Solution Retail
India Limited, located at Thrissur (Deliver the goods to all stores in kerala).
Palakkad Big Bazaar unit also receives goods from Coimbatore unit.
The logistics department receives the stock of different goods and verifies the
quantity and quality of the goods with the particulars given in the ‘Goods
Received Statement’, which it receives along with the stock.
Then it checks for any damage in the stock received. If there is no damage in the
stock, after recording it in the “ Stock Inward Register” despatches the goods to
the respective department .If there is damage or if the goods do not match the
details given in the Goods Received Statement, it enters in the Stock Outward
Register and sends it back to the warehouse along with a Goods Returned Note
giving full information regarding the reason for returning back the goods and the
defect or damage in the goods.
There is no such reorder points. Orders are placed as and when required. The
manager in charge told me that there are no such measures except in a few
items. For general merchandise, which includes ,food and non food items, it was 7
days. How ever they always keep in mind the transit time of 2 days. Vegetables
are taken on a daily basis from local vendors.
This is followed in Food bazaar .It automatically detects the purchase order.
