Q.BHIM App?
BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a Mobile App developed by National
Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), based on the Unified Payment
Interface (UPI). It was launched by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of
India, at a Digi Dhan mela at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on 30
December 2016. It has been named after Dr. Bhimrao R. Ambedkar and is
intended to facilitate e-payments directly through banks and as part of
the 2016 Indian banknote demonetisation and drive towards cashless
transactions.

Issues like poor quality of food in trains and shortage of ammunition in the
Indian Army were listed in the audit reports tabled at the Parliament by the
Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
Here are nine such issues highlighted by the country’s top auditor:

1. Deficiency in supply of ammunition


The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has slammed the state-run Ordnance
Factory Board (OFB) for critical deficiency in availability of ammunition to the Army.

In a scathing report, which was tabled in the Parliament today, the CAG also
criticised the OFB for inadequate quality of ammunition supplied to the Army

2. Food at railway stations unfit for consumption


The food sold at railway stations is "unfit for human consumption" and the hygiene
standards at railway catering units are below par, the Comptroller and Auditor
General of India has said in a scathing report.

3. Six telcos underreported revenue by Rs 61,000 crore


Private telcos, including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, understated revenues to
the extent of Rs 61,064.5 crore during 2010-11 and 2014-15, leading to a "short
payment" of Rs 7,697.6 crore to the government, the CAG said.

4. Shortcomings in NRHM implementation


The CAG has discovered several shortcomings in the implementation of the National
Rural Health Mission (NRHM) including financial mismanagement, shortage of
doctors and paramedical staff and non-availability of essential drugs in healthcare
centres.
5. 60% shortfall of central funds to Assam for flood
management
One CAG report has observed that there has been a 60 per cent shortfall in release
of central funds to Assam for implementing flood management programme.

6. Road Ministry's plan cause Rs 1.85 cr unfruitful

The road ministry's inefficient planning and monitoring led to unfruitful expenditure of
Rs 1.85 crore on the eight traffic counters procured from Canada

7. Writing off Kingfisher dues to BIAL 'untenable'


CAG termed a request from the Bangalore airport operator to the government to
waive more than Rs 9 crore owed by the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines as
"untenable" and an "undue favour".

8. 'Gaps found in financial management, compliance of


RTE Act'
CAG found gaps in financial management, compliance, monitoring and evaluation of
Right To Education (RTE) Act 2009.

9. Holes in crop insurance schemes


The CAG has picked several holes in the crop insurance schemes including
Narendra Modi government's flagship Pradhan Manti Fasal Bima Yojana (PMBFY),
saying delays in release of compensation by states to affected farmers defeated "the
objective of providing timely financial assistance".
Q.Reasions for rise in prices of tomato?
Much to the discomfort of consumers, retail tomato prices in the national
capital have skyrocketed by up to 65 per cent to Rs 60-70 per kg in a
fortnight due to crop damage in producing states.

The prices have risen sharply in other metros as well.


Tomato is available at Rs 50 a kg in Kolkata, Rs 40-45 in Chennai and
Rs 35-40 in Mumbai, trade data showed.

Q.India tea output in month of june?


India's tea production in June fell 2.8 per cent from a year ago to 143.02
million kg as plucking fell in the top producing north-eastern state of
Assam, state-run Tea Board said.

The state produced 68.36 million kg in the month, down 10 per cent from
a year ago, the Board said in a statement.

Q.HDFC bank?

 HDFC Bank Ltd. on Friday announced the launch of its Unified Payment
Interface (UPI) on India`s first multi-bank payment app, Chillr.

 With this launch, HDFC Bank UPI will be available on Chillr, in addition to
the bank`s Mobile Banking app.

 Launch of HDFC Bank`s UPI on Chillr will benefit customers of 44 banks


that will now be able to conduct digital transactions seamlessly using the
Chillr app.

Q.India fiscal deficit?

 The Indian government is on track to achieving the fiscal


deficit target of 3.2 per cent of GDP in the current fiscal year, says an
UBS report.

 The government’s fast-paced spending continued in June, with over 30 per


cent of budget committed for the year already exhausted in the first quarter.
 Capital spending in first quarter was pegged at 22.1 per cent of the budget
estimate, data released on Monday showed, higher than 19.9 per cent at the
same time last year.
