AP Language with American Literature - Week of October 15-19, 2018 

Weekly Learning Goals  Focus Standards 

Complete research and annotate scholarly articles for research project. Gather
relevant information from multiple authoritative print and digital sources, using
advanced searches effectively (use Cobb Digital Library); assess the strengths and
limitations of each source in terms of the task, purpose, and audience; integrate
information into the text selectively to maintain the flow of ideas, avoiding plagiarism
and over reliance on any one source and following a standard format for citation. Use
appropriate MLA citations in research and other projects. Improve multiple choice
(AP exam prep) scores. Write arguments to support claims. Practice argumentative,
synthesis, and rhetorical analysis essays. Participate in collaborative discussions.
CBAPELC C7​​—The course teaches research skills, and in particular, the ability to evaluate, use, and cite primary and secondary sources. The course assigns projects such as the
researched argument paper, which goes beyond the parameters of a traditional research paper by asking students to present an argument of their own that includes the analysis and
synthesis of ideas from an array of sources.​CBAPELC C8​​—The course teaches students how to cite sources using a recognized editorial style (e.g., Modern Language Association).
