A MAN … hands of gold

By Mel Arriane Gonzales

Do you know who is the man that is like King Midas? Everything he
touch turns into gold.

I know a man that is like him, in the person of Emerito Sular Gaviola,
Doctor of Education. I compare him to King Midas because the school
where he come from is highly appreciated
because of what he did to it, it became
beautiful. It is truly an evidence that he
made magical touch. He makes
school into an ideal one.

Our school has never been this

beautiful, until our nice, smart
and active principal stepped on
my beloved Alma Mater, the
Cong. Alberto T. Aguja
Memorial Central School 2 years
ago. In a short span of 2 years
and 9 months as our principal,
his good governance has created
a great change to our school. A
change that everyone benefitted not
only the pupils, but the teachers and
its stakeholders as well. His great
leadership and smart initiatives has
helped our school, not only on its
physical aspects but also in our academic
achievements. Under his management we
had functional covered walks, waiting areas and guard
house, usable feeding areas, beautification of some part on our Home Economics
room, initiated the tiling of our mini-auditorium, balustrade in Grade V rooms, and
procurement of a functional television set and sound system with the help of the
GPTA Officers. On the other hand, for the academic aspects, he always
supervise teachers to conduct intensive review whenever there is a
competition. He is always present in every competition to boost the
pupils’ confidence, and cheers us up .

The Principal II of the Central School can be described with

these two words: persevere and hardworking. Among all the Principal II
of the whole division he ranks 7th for next ladder of promotion. He is
being honored to be the Principal In-Charge of a District in a nearby
town per information from a reliable source. Kudos! to this man of
action.

Beginning with a Single Step

By : Richard A. De los Santos Jr.

Martin christian m. Mendoza is a young boy who has a big

dream in life. A 13-year old lad who lived in Capoocan, Leyte with
two siblings named Rey Cris and Kristin Chloe. He is a son of Rey
Cris O. Mendoza and Monette N. Maraya. He topped the list of
regional passers of Philippine Science National Competitive
Exam in Region 8 last 2017. Presently, Martin is a Grade
7 student of the Philippine Science High
School-Main Campus, Diliman, Quezon City in
Manila.
True to many, he is a good looking,
lovable, hardworking and funny person. At a
young age, his ambition is to become a
scientist because he likes science a lot and is
fascinated with the subject very much. He
believes that being a scientist he could
help more in bringing out a solution to
some problems in the society.
Martin believes that there
are no secrets to success. When he
started in school as a student, his
journey was not smooth sailing like
other students had. He had
difficulties and challenges
encountered. He is always an achiever
and awardee in school but he has responsibilities and obligations to
perform well in his studies to maintain his high grades. At the same
time it would mean lesser time for him to play, watch tv and enjoy the
things he wanted to do with his siblings, classmates, friends and family.
But today, his sacrifices paid off as he stands proud of himself
for overcoming those challenges and be competitive enough with his
classmates in Philippine Science, fondly called Pisay. As he begin a new
journey in Pisay as a grade 7 student, he admits that he fears if he will not be
able to do it alone. But with his positive attitude, he is determined to surpass
everything and of course with his parents guidance, he know he will
succeed with flying colors.
Martin is a dreamer, he has always planned on becoming a lot of
things since childhood. When he was a kid, he wanted to be an
astronaut, doctor, pilot, journalist and a lawyer someday. But as he grew
old he realized that life is too short to accomplish everything, being a
Pisay passer. He realized that he is coming close to realizing his
ambition if he finishes his studies successfully.
He still have a long way to go, but he is determined to finish
what he has started. He tries to balance his time very well so he can
enjoy his journey. He knows he has a lot of things to accomplish, and
greater things to catch, and he is extremely excited for that.
He is striving harder to be a better version of himself and he
always remember that no one is the best author of his life but
himself.
