TITLE:
“TO MEASURE THE PIPE FRICTION AND DEVELOP RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FRICTION FACTOR
AND REYNOLDS NUMBER’’.
INTRODUCTION:
The degree of roughness was designated as the ratio of the sand grain diameter to
the pipe diameter (/D). The relationship between the friction factor and Reynolds number can
be determined for every relative roughness.
OBJECTIVE:.
The objective of this experiment is to determine the to study the variation in friction factor used in
the Darcy formula with the Reynolds number in both laminar and turbulent flow.
PROCEDURE:
First connect the hydraulic bench to fluid friction apparatus.
Now attach the differential manometer one pipe to the entrance of friction fluid apparatus and
other at the end of it.
Turn on the pump.
Measure the head loss between tapings using the pressurized water manometer as appropriate.
Now find the friction factor in pipe.
Now note down the readings.
RECORTED DATA:
DATA ANALYSIS:
CONCLUSION:
When the Head loss is 0.035m the Reynolds Number is 15730.33 and friction factor is
0.00364.
When the Head loss is 0.045m the Reynolds Number is 17763.12 and friction factor is
0.00374 .
When the Head loss is 0.03m the Reynolds Number is 20205.99 friction factor is 0.00315.
