Hardware Zoning

Alias Creation

1) Install san surfer(used to check Q-Logic port details) and Check the World wide port name.

2) Connect to switch IP address(eg: http//:192.168.10.234/)

3) Click the Zone Administration button

4) Select the zoning option from the view menu(for software zoning or for hardware zoning or for
both mixed zoning)

5) Select the config option

6) In config option click on the create button

7) Enter the config name what would you like to give(eg: UNIMATICS)

8) Save the config from the Actions menu

9) After saving the config enable the config

10) Click Alias button

vasthosh
11) Create Alias name at host side

vasthosh
12) After entering alias name at host level click on ok button

13) Select the alias name option that you have given from the name option

vasthosh
14) Select the world wide port name for the host side we want to zone

vasthosh
15) Add this world wide port name to alias members(click on the add member)

vasthosh
16) World wide port name is added to the alias members
After this procedure save config and enable config from the actions menu

17) Again in the alias option click on the create botton(creating alias for storage processor)

18) Assign alias name for the storage processor(A-processor A, B-processor B)

19) Now add the processor A port name to the alias members(1st two port names belong to
processor A and 2nd two port names belong to processor B)

20) Add the port name to alias member

vasthosh
21) Port name is added to the alias members
After this procedure save config and enable config from the actions menu

22) Once alias is created at host level and storage processor level we need to create zoning the both
port names

23) Click on the create button from the zone option

vasthosh
24) Assign particular name for zoning

vasthosh
25) select the name that you have created zoning from the name option bar

26) Select the port name at host level

vasthosh
27) Click on the add member button to add host port name to zone members

vasthosh
28) Port name of host is added to zone members

vasthosh
29) Now add the storage processor port name to the zone members

vasthosh
30) Click on the add member to add port name to zone members

vasthosh
31) Port name is added to zone members
After this procedure save config and enable config from the actions menu

32) Now select the config option

vasthosh
33) select the zoning that you have created

vasthosh
34) Add the zoning that you have created to config members

vasthosh
35) Zone is added to config members
