Dear Parent/Guardian

The Year 4 class has recently been exploring the First Fleet and how the convicts
have played a significant part is establishing Australian history. To explore this
further, the Year 4 students will be participating in an excursion to Fremantle Prison
to learn about the life of a convict, investigate reasons for their journey to Australia,
explore the treatment of convicts in prison and Australian society, learn information
about and hear stories of various convicts lives. Following the tour at Fremantle Prison, students will
enjoy lunch at Cicerellos in Fremantle before returning to school. Below is all the information you will
need to know in regards to this excursion.

Year 4 HASS Excursion to Fremantle Prison

Location Fremantle Prison: 1 The Terrace, Fremantle

Cicerellos: 44 Mews Rd, Fremantle

Cost $10 (Includes entry to Fremantle Prison and lunch)

Travel Arrangements Walking

Time Students to will leave school 9:45am and return to school at 2:05pm

Itinerary 8:50am: Students arrive to school

9:45am: Students leave for Fremantle Prison

10:00am: Students arrive at Fremantle Prison

10:15am – 11:15am: Modern and Convict tour

11:15am: Morning Tea

11:45am – 12:45pm: Convict History tour

12:45am: Walk to Cicerellos

1:10pm – 2:00pm: Lunch at Cicerellos and Play at Esplanade Park

2:00pm: Leave for school

2:05pm: Return to School

Special Items/ Clothing Labelled water bottle and hat. Students to wear school sports uniform.

Parent helpers needed.

In order to accommodate for the number and safety of our students, we will need the help of any
parents willing to give their time to attend and supervise this excursion. Parent helpers will be
compensated for their entry ticket to Fremantle Prison, however will need to pay $14.50 for lunch.
Parents helpers will be responsible for supervising a group of students (no more than 10 students)
throughout the day, and must obtain a relevant Working with Childs Check. If you are interested in
assisting, please write your details below and give this to your child’s classroom teacher.
