Hull Construction
There are four construction options available, each of which has its strengths and merits. It is important that performance requirements and likely uses are taken into
account when buying boats for yourself or your club.

Our range-topping FISA minimum weight ‘Medalist’ and ‘International’ hulls are both made using a Nomex Honeycomb sandwich construction. In
particular the Medalist uses high modulus Uni-directional pre-preg carbon fibre exclusively, making it one of the most advanced constructions available.
Usage Guide - Sandwich Construction
Sandwich construction boats are usually lighter and stiffer than their single-skin counterparts due to a honeycomb core (see diagrams), making them
more suited to high performance use. Although still pretty resilient, a very stiff hull of this type of construction is a little more susceptible to damage
from bangs and knocks.
These boats are ideal where speed is absolutely of the essence and where crews are competent enough to take care of them.

The ‘Competitor’ and ‘Club Racer’ hulls are made with a laminated single skin construction. All boats in the range are heat cured in the mould.

Usage Guide - Single Skin Laminate Construction

Single-skin construction boats tend to be hard-wearing with a little ‘give’ in the hull which helps absorb the odd knock in the boat-shed or while being
transported. They are a little heavier (see weight chart on page 13 for comparison), but are ideal for general club use where the boats are likely to
take some general punishment, but still perform well enough to win national trophies.

WinTech leads the way again with the launch of the King 8

12
Introducing the WinTech King 8
This tried and tested hull shape is highly regarded within the U.S. Collegiate rowing fraternity for its stability, comfort and speed. The “King 8” has been designed to maximise
crews’ ability to generate effective power and to make the most of limited time on the water - where it matters most.
The “King 8” is perfectly suited to anyone who faces similar constraints, such as school and university rowing clubs.
Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Graeme King has been dedicated to designing and hand-crafting simple, comfortable rowing boats for over 40 years. Now, in collaboration with
WinTech’s world-leading team of composite materials experts, Graeme King’s innovative “King 8” is launched in the UK.
The result of this collaboration is a hull which combines fantastic out-and-out speed with stability, comfort and, of course, WinTech’s durability.
Try it and you’ll understand.

Adaptive Rowing

Explorer 30
The sport of rowing is now included in the
Paralympic Games and WinTech Racing is an
official provider of adaptive boats to FISA for the
World Rowing Championships and Paralympics
in this category. With safety and stability
adaptations to the boats, we produce adaptive
boats in the single scull, double scull and coxed
four categories.

Pontoons
WinTech’s superior pontoon design provides
extra stability, while ensuring a smooth, dry row
with minimal drag. An adjustment range of 3-6”
accommodates rowers of varying weights. Pull-
pins allow super quick fitting and adjustment. In
addition to their adaptive uses, pontoons can be
raised clear of the water to act as an emergency
back-up in situations like cold-water rowing, or
for instructional purposes in racing boats.

WinTech Coaching Catamarans
Large Launch
Our highly manoeuvrable, wake-less launches are perfect for all your
coaching and regatta needs.
The large 24’ launch is designed to carry one to four people for regular
use, but it will also hold an 8+ crew and cox in rescue conditions:
thus, 13 people are able to use the boat as a floating platform to
keep their core out of the water.
The launch is very manoeuvrable. Improved rudder design keeps the
rudder above the bottom of the hull and out of harm’s way. There are
two bench seats - the first has a large storage area for life-jackets
and equipment; the second has two compartments, one for the fuel
tank and one for a battery. Walk-on, non-slip pontoons offer easy
access for “hot-seating” on the water and for coaches adjusting the
boat. Railings around the front of the cockpit are standard.
A 15/20hp longshaft engine gives optimal performance, although
the transom can handle a 25hp motor if more power is required.

Small Launch
The 16’ launch is designed to hold one or two people for normal
operation, but, as with the 24’ launch, it will also accomodate a
whole 8+ crew and cox under rescue conditions.
This launch is steered by its motor, is highly manoeuvrable and ideal
for tight docking situations.
The minimum required motor size is 5hp, however a 9.9hp is
recommended for optimal performance, allowing speeds upwards of
18mph to be achieved with 2 passengers; enough to catch an 8+ at
full tilt. The launch can handle a 15hp motor,
which can be used at less than full throttle.
Two bench seats offer storage area for life
jackets, fuel tank, battery and equipment.
Hand rails are standard.
