Interview Questions
5. Who conducted the assessments? (Classroom teacher, Arabic teacher, classroom assistant, etc.)
9. How did you group your students? (same/different academic levels, friendship groups, similar interests, etc.)
According to the abilities (academic level)
In each group there must be a veracity of levels and skills, so the students will help each other and share experiences.
Reflect on the interview and the information gained about diagnostic assessment from your MST.
Consider how/why you would implement diagnostic assessment in a UAE KG classroom in the future.
Explain how this practice will affect student learning in a KG class.
Through the interview with my MST I found out that they are using an assessment called GL, they use it
in the begging of the year to diagnose the students.
When I searched about it, I was impressed with how practical and useful the GL assessment is. It doesn’t
only give you detailed information about the student’s education; it goes beyond measuring attainment
because they can no longer look at where the pupil is, they need to consider whether pupil could be.
(introduction to GL assessment, n.d.)
I believe it’s essential to have the GL assessment in the KG classroom in the future, so I will definitely use
the GL assessment in the beginning of each year on my students, especially on the new students
because it will help me find out the strength, weakness, knowledge, and skills prior to instruction for
each child.
It’s going to make the teacher more aware of the total student’s level so she will be able to create a
proper plan to help them during the academic year, so it will affect positively on the KG students
learning.
