O God, Almighty Father, Who, having
called the blessed abbot Columba to the
priesthood and to the monastic way of life,
wonderfully opened to him the secrets of the
mysteries of Christ, grant, in Thy goodness,
that, strengthened by his teachings in the
spirit of our adoption as Thy sons, we may
pray to Thee with a boundless confidence,
and so obtain, through his intercession, if
such be Thy gracious will, the restoration to
health of N. (and N. and N.) for the greater
joy of Thy Church, and the praise of Thy
glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son,
who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the
unity of the Holy Ghost, one God forever
and ever. Amen.

God our Father, you granted to your servant
Blessed John Henry Newman wonderful gifts of
nature and of grace, that he should be a spiritual
light in the darkness of this world, an eloquent
herald of the Gospel, and a devoted servant of
the one Church of Christ.
With confidence in his heavenly intercession, we
make the following petition: [here make your

For his insight into the mysteries of the Kingdom,
his zealous defense of the teachings of the
Church, and his priestly love for each of your
children, we pray that he may soon be numbered
among the Saints.

Dios Omnipotente y Eterno, Padre, Hijo y
Espíritu Santo, Te doy gracias por haber donado
a la Iglesia el testimonio heroico del Cardenal
François-Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân.
La sufrida experiencia de la cárcel, vivida en
unión con Cristo Crucificado y bajo la maternal
protección de María, forjó un testigo fúlgido,
para la Iglesia y para el mundo, de unidad y de
perdón, de justicia y de paz.
Su amable persona y su ministerio episcopal
irradiaron la luz de la fe, el entusiasmo de la
esperanza y el ardor de la caridad.
Concédeme ahora, por su intercesión, según Tu
Voluntad, la gracia que imploro, con la
esperanza de verlo pronto elevado al honor de
los altares. ¡Amén!
