requirement.
l The chassis structure satisfies the WEEE recycle requirement.
l The chassis shell is made of aluminum alloy on which conductive oxidation is made
and the surface is sprayed with paint (ZTE silver). The shell wall thickness is uniform
and stiffeners are welded on the lateral walls to enhance the strength.
l With the use of theftproof screws, the chassis should be opened by using special
tools. The use of ordinary tools, like screwdriver, forceps and hammer, can not open
the cabinet in 3 minutes. It cannot be opened by using ordinary tools, link screwdriver,
pincers and hammer in three minutes.

Note:
1. The antenna should be as close as possible to the 802.16e BTS.
2. For the 2.3 GHz~2.7 GHz system, use the 1/2'' feeder when the length of a single
feeder cable is shorter than 25m. Use the 7/8" feeder when the length of a single
feeder cable is within 26m~50m. Use the 5/4" feeder cable when the length of a single
feeder is within 51m~60m (This is not recommended).
3. For the 3.4 GHz~3.6 GHz system, use the 1/2'' feeder when the length of a single
feeder cable is shorter than 20m. Use the 7/8" feeder when the length of a single
feeder cable is within 21m~45m. Use the 5/4" feeder cable when the length of a single
feeder is within 46m~60m (This is not recommended).

3-2
R1 Air interface between the MSS and the ASN. It may implement the
management plane functions.
R3 The interface between the ASN and CSN. It may contain the control and
bearer plane protocols.
4-1
R6 Interface between the 802.16e BTS and the AGW. It is an ASN internal
interface, which implements a series of control and bearer plane protocols.
4.2 R1 Interface
The R1 interface is the connection interface between the ASN and the MS. The R1 interface
conforms to IEEE 802.16e-2005.
The R1 interface provides the MAC layer, PHY layer, and the related management plane
functions.
Message Format
Figure 4-2 illustrates the format of the management message of the R1 interface at the
MAC Layer.
The management messages of the MAC layer are transmitted in MAC PDU payload.
All the management messages of the MAC layer are composed of an initial field
Management Message Type and Management Message Payload. The length of
Management Message Type is 8 bit, and the format of the management message
complies with the requirements of an air interface protocol in IEEE 802.16.
In basic connection, broadcast connection, and initial ranging connection, the MAC
management messages are not divided into chips or bound into packets. But the MAC
management messages in the primary management connection can be divided into chips
or bound into packets.
Protocol Stack
Figure 4-3 illustrates the R1 interface protocol stack.
4-2
The R1 interface protocol stack includes MAC Layer and PHY Layer.
l MAC Layer
The MAC layer of the R1 protocol stack contains three sublayers (from top to bottom);
Service-Specific Convergence Sub-layer (CS), MAC Common Part Sublayer (MAC
CPS) and Security Sublayer.
à Service-Specific Convergence Sublayer (CS)
Different protocol interfaces provide different CS specifications.
The function of CS is to convert/map the external data received by the
Convergence Sublayer Service Access Point (CS SAP) into MAC Service Data
Unit (MAC SDU) and send it to the MAC CPS through the MAC Service Access
Point (MAC SAP). The other function of this layer is to sort external SDUs
associated with suitable Service Flow Identifier (SFID), Connection Identifier
(CID) and Payload Header Suppression (PHS).
à MAC Common Part Sublayer (MAC CPS)
MAC CPS does not need to analyze the load information of the CS.
MAC CPS realizes the core function of the MAC layer including bandwidth
distribution, connection establishment and connection maintenance. It receives
data of different CS layers through MAC SAP and sort them based on different
MAC connection. Quality of Service (QoS) is applied in data transmission and
scheduling of physical layer.
Data, PHY control information and statistical information between the MAC CPS
and PHY is transmitted through PHY SAP.
à Security Sublayer
MAC contains an independent security sublayer to provide authentication,
security key exchange and realize encryption.
4-3
l PHY Layer
The PHY layer of R1 protocol stack contains multiple regulations. Each regulation
corresponds to a specific frequency range and application.
The PHY layer of R1 protocol stack is based on the modulating mode of OFDM.
Table 4-2 lists the length of each field in the message frame.
Address 13
Type 5
Payload 128
l MG
Each message group (MG) consists of multiple M_MG messages and K_MG IDLE
codes. The number of bytes that are contained in an MG is M_MG x 19 + K_MG =
21 x 19 + 1 = 400 (Bytes).
Figure 4-5 shows the structure of an MG.
4-4
Each RP3 frame contains N_MG MGs, with the length of I x N_MG x (M_MG x 19
bytes + K_MG x 1). I refers to the rate level (1, 2, or 4). The recommended values
are M_MG=21, K_MG = 1, and N_MG = 1920.
l Master Frame
The number of bytes that are contained in a Master Frame (10 ms) is I x 1920 x 400
= I x 768000 (Bytes). Here I = 1, 2 or 4.
OBSAI supports three rates: 1x, 2x, and 4x. Figure 4-6 shows the frame structure at
each rate.
At any of the three rates, Master Frame is 10 ms. The line rate is (I x 768000/10ms)
x 8 x 10/8 = I x 768 Mbps. 1x is 768 Mbps, 2x is 1536 Mbps, and 4x is 3072 Mbps.
