Affidavit of Probable Cause
MIGUEL LOPEZ
Date of Birth: 05/24/1981
Arrestee
On 11/02/2018 12:00 the defendant was arrested for the offense(s) of:
I believe there is probable cause to charge the defendant with these charges because:
Miguel Lopez was seen by witnesses shooting off several rounds from a semi-automatic hand gun. Miguel fired
3-4 shots within South Salt Lake City limits at two sheds damaging the locks. Shell casings were found and
collected. Miguel retrieved keys from a mailbox and unlawfully entered a residence where he stole several hand
tools and landlord paperwork which was found in his possession upon search incident to arrest. Also found
incident to arrest Miguel was in possession of a silver handgun and magazine which contained further
ammunition. The extra ammunition matched the spent shell casings found by the damaged sheds. In Miguel's
front pocket was a small metal container which contained a crystal substance, which field tested positive for
methamphetamine and pill which was verified as morphine. Both narcotics were individually packaged and in a
small baggie. Miguel is a category II due to being in possession of a category II possession drug thus making him
a restricted person. In speaking with Miguel I could smell the odor of alcohol coming from his breath and his
speech with slurred. Miguel had in his possession a small flask which contained alcohol.
