Narrator: Oh there you are! Hi guys, I'm Kizzy, your Big Sister.

How are you? * 3-1 will answer *

Great! Big brother is not around so I'll be the one to tell you our story for today.

Are you ready for our story for today? * 3-1 will answer *

Our story for today is The Tale of Guava. * sing a song, if possible *

( enter first scene )

A long time ago, there was a king who ruled a rich, prosperous island. He had all the things a king
could ever ask for: the power, the wealth, and all the delicious foods.The king's name was King
Barabas.

King: Where is my food?

(nobody will answer)

King: WHERE IS MY FOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!

(slave1 will run and kneel)

Slave1: Here's your food, King Barabas.

(slave1 place food to the table and kneel)

King: (mad) Do you think that's enough? Do you think that's enough for me?

Slave1: I'm sorry, King.

King: This is not enough! Get out! Go get me some more food!!!!!!! (throw plates)

Narrator: What was the name of the King? * 3-1 will answer *

Very good! Let's continue.

( enter scene two )

The king was arrogant and rude. He wears his crown all the time. He even hugs it when going to sleep.
King Barabas also wants everyone to kneel down every time they see him. He punish people who
doesn't respect him and the ones who does not follow his rules
(fisherman walk and will be caught by the King and his guards)

King: Who are you? Why are you still outside your house? You should be staying home by this time.

Fisherman: (kneel) I am sorry, King Barabas. I wanted to catch as many fish to feed my family but
unfortunately I wasn't able to catch any.

King: I don't care about your reason. Guards, bring him to the cage and let him and his family starve.

Fisherman: I'm sorry, King Barabas. Please don't do this to me. Please!!!!! (hug King's legs)

King: Stay away from me! (sign guards to capture fisherman)

Narrator: Is the King a good King? * 3-1 will answer *

Yes, he is not a good King. Let's continue.

( enter third scene )

The King continued to rule his land. He continued to ask for food until his castle has started to
become filthy. He would spend most of his time sitting and eating with his bare hands. As he ate, he
dripped food on the floor and smiled mockingly at the people around him.

(king eating a lot; slaves kneeling down)

People from the kingdom would approach with requests for his help, but he would always refuse. As
he neglected his kingdom, people started to complain and starve.

Slave2: (rushing to the king) King Barabas, King Barabas!

King: Who are you? Don't you know that no one is allowed to enter my castle when I'm eating.

Slave2: (begging) Please, King Barabas! We need your help! My husband was attacked by lions from the
jungle, he is wounded and dying and we don't know what to do now. Please, King Barabas! Help us!

King: No! Get out of my castle!

Slave2's kid: Please, King Barabas! Help us! My father is dying!

King: (king will sign to guards to bring slave2 and kid outside)
Narrator: Guys, always remember that it is not good to punish other people. It is not good to let them
suffer. Okay?

( enter fourth scene )

After a time, a hunched old beggar woman showed up at the castle while the king was eating. The old
lady asked for food as she was starving.

Beggar: (kneel) King Barabas.

King: "Go away! I don't have anything to give to you. Can't you see I'm eating?"

Beggar: "Please, my king, I'm asking for anything, anything you could give me as I am so hungry. Even a
little piece of bread or fruit would do."

King: "Get out at once! You disgust me,"

The old woman stood up straight, casting aside her stooped posture.

Beggar: I've heard much about you and how your kingdom is suffering."

The tone of her voice had changed. It was no longer the voice of a weak, old woman.

Beggar: "I asked for help, and you shoved me away. You have a lot for yourself, but when I only asked
for a little food, you belittled me. You are selfish. No one loves you and no one will remember you when
you are gone."

Narrator: Oh King Barabas! Are you ready to see what will happen next? Let's continue.

( enter fifth scene )

And the beggar disappeared.

After a few more days, the king slowly weakened and became sick. No one knew what was wrong
with him. They’ve called all the healers in town but no one found out what was happening with the
King.
He weakened and weakened and lost much weight. He looked older than his age. Soon after that, the
king died. As unfortunate and unexpected as it was, no one cried and nobody showed up at the king's
burial. He died alone.

(King’s lying at his throne and no one is looking after him)

Few days later, after the King was buried, his people noticed a strange plant growing, a plant they
had never seen before. The plant soon grew into a tree, which bore rounded fruits that turned
yellowish when ripe.

Slave1: The taste of this fruit is disgusting!

They also noticed that the fruit seemed to have a crown, which reminded them of their selfish,
arrogant king. The flesh of the fruit tasted a bit sour, just like the sour personality of the king towards
them.

Slave2 kid: Maybe this is King Barabas, the fruit tastes disgusting because of King Barabas' attitude. The
fruit has it crown like part at the top symbolizing King Barabas' leadership and power.

(people nod)

The people learned to eat the fruit, which helped them overcome their hunger. And because the tree
was from the grave of their King Barabas and it has crown just like their king, they named the tree
after him: barabas, which in time they called bayabas.

Narrator: And that, is the story of Guava. Always remember that we should always be ready to help
others despite of their looks and social status. Let us not have the same attitude as King Barabas.
