A counting scheme for the ashtanga yoga primary series

Explanation
• the inhalations are shown in blue and the exhalations in red
• each circle in a rich colour represents one breath and the red bars are samasthitih
• the numbers above the circles are the count: "ekam, dve, trini,.."
• the pale circles are used if a count has more than one breath
• in this case the breaths are visualized by small circles, which are also used for a single breath
without a count
• the large circles are usually the "state of the asana" and the last small circle in a big one deter-
mines when the asana is reached
• if there are additional asanas below a row, the counting scheme above has to be repeated for all
these asanas
• the finishing sequence is shown in an abbreviated form; a possible number of breaths is shown
below the asana

The idea of visualizing the count as a mala is inspired by John Scott.


The count is as close as possible to an AYInnovation -LED-Class
