In view of the above, the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions was sought and it has been ruled out that such practice would constitute to double jeopardy: 4. Henceforth, Police Officers fixing immobilisation devices to motor vehicles would only require the drivers to pay to the nearest Police Station from the place of the offence the prescribed fee of Rs 1000. They should not contravene the drivers for illegal parking. 5. Divisional Commanders and Branch Officers concerned are to bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all Officers working under their orders for strict compliance.
