Isolation of Yeast RNA

I. Objectives of the experiment

 To isolate yeast RNA


 To know the purpose of each step and reagent used in RNA isolation
 To explain the purpose of each reagent used in RNA isolation
 To perform recrystallization of RNA

II. Glassware/ Reagents/ Materials Used

 Beaker  Centrifuge
 1% NaOH  Centrifuge tube
 Distilled water  Plastic pipette
 Dry yeast  Litmus paper
 Water bath  95% ethyl alcohol
 Stirring rod  Conc. HCl
 Cheesecloth or wire gauze  Thermometer

Dilute 2.5mL of 1% NaOH
