St. Stephen’s High School through its High School Computer Department, is having its SSHS Centennial Technology
Interschool Competitions entitled: #SSHSCOMPetisyon2018. The said event is designed to help improve one’s general
knowledge, enhance academic knowledge regarding technology-related subjects, build self-confidence, stimulate
creativity and to provide hands-on activity in robotics using microcontroller and sensors.

Seminars and Competitions
In this regard, we would like to invite your Grades 5 and 6 (Quiz Bee) and Grades 9 and 10 (Robotics) to be part of this
event. Each team is requested to pay a Registration fee of Php 300.00. We have attached the competition mechanics for
your reference.

GAME MECHANICS
1. Open to all Grade 5 and Grade 6 pupils.
2. One team per school will be allowed consisting of 2 pupils per team.
3. The contest is divided into Elimination and Final Rounds. Each round will have 3 levels, namely: Easy, Average, and
Difficult.
4. Use of calculator is not allowed in any rounds.
5. Answers must be in correct spelling for identification.
6. No deductions shall be made for failure to give an answer or for incorrect answers.
7. A question may be nullified if members of the audience give audible or visible signals to the contestants.
8. The Board of Judges shall be composed of distinguished faculty members from the High School Department and St.
Stephen’s High School Alumni.
9. The decision of the Board of Judges regarding answers, protests and problems that may arise during the contest, shall
be final.
PROCEDURE
A. ELIMINATION ROUND
1. Questions in the Elimination Round shall be divided into Easy, Average and Difficult Levels.
Easy Round
15 Questions 30 Seconds 2 Points
Average Round
10 Questions 45 Seconds 3 Points
Difficult Round
10 Questions 60 Seconds 5 Points
2. Each team will be assigned to a computer unit where the members will encode their answers. In case of technical
difficulties, answer boards will be used instead. Scratch papers will also be provided for computation.
3. Only the top three (3) teams will qualify for the Final Round.
4. In case of a tie in the third spot, a tiebreaker round will be conducted. Teams involved in the tie will be ranked
again to their respective position. If the tie still exists, another question shall be asked until the tie is broken.
B. FINAL ROUND
1. Scores from the Elimination Round will be disregarded and teams will be on equal footing.
2. Questions in the Final Round shall be divided into Easy, Average and Difficult Levels.
Easy Round
15 Questions 30 Seconds 2 Points
Average Round
10 Questions 45 Seconds 3 Points
Difficult Round
10 Questions 60 Seconds 5 Points
3. Each team will be assigned to an answering unit where the members will listen first to the question before giving
an answer. If the Quiz Master says “GO” they need to wave their hand on a sensor which will determine if they
are the one who waved first.
4. If the Teams answer is incorrect the other teams can steal after the Quiz Master read again the question and says
“GO”. Scratch papers will also be provided for computation.
C. DECLARATION OF WINNER
The scores will be tallied at the end of the final round and teams will be ranked according to points. Rank one will be
declared Champion, rank two will be 1st runner- up and rank three will be 2nd runner- up.
PROTESTS
Only the participants and the coach are allowed to raise a protest.
Protests shall be entertained only if they are raised before the quizmaster reads the next question.
All protests shall be deliberated upon by the judges whose decision is final.

PROCEDURE
1. Lecture and hands-on activities will be conducted before the competition
2. After the lecture and hands-on activities, the competition will start immediately
3. Participants will be given 6 problems to solve within the allotted time of the competition.
4. The participants can choose any problem to be solved first
5. Once a problem is finished, have it check by the facilitator right away
6. During checking the code and the circuit is considered final
7. Each problem has a corresponding points depending on the level of complexity
8. The total number of points gathered and time used in all problems will determine the winners
9. The Board of Judges shall be composed of distinguished faculty members from the High School Department and St.
Stephen’s High School Alumni
10. The decision of the Board of Judges regarding answers, protests and problems that may arise during the contest, shall
be final
DECLARATION OF WINNER
1. Winners are determined by the total accumulated points and time used in all the given problems.
2. In the event of a tie, a "sudden death" round where a tie breaking problem will be given.
3. Winning teams will be ranked according to points. Rank one will be declared Champion, rank two will be 1st runner-
up and rank three will be 2nd runner- up.
PROTESTS
Only the participants and the coach are allowed to raise a protest.
Protests shall be entertained within 5 minutes of the time that they observe any irregularities.
All protests shall be deliberated upon by the judges whose decision is final.
