Results overnight are what we people are used to.

But the reality is, if we dig deep into the problem

we’ll realise that a short span of time (i.e.4 years) is not enough for us. Yes you read that right. Read our
detailed analysis.

Past Situation:

In 2011, as per the Census 113 million rural households did not have access to toilets and were
defecating in the open, and 3.25 million rural households used public or community latrines. However,
even in the households which had access to toilets, only some were using improved pits or septic tanks
for storage and treatment of the waste.

In 2011, Census figures show that 9.96 million (including census towns) urban households defecated in
the open, and 4.74 million urban households used public or community latrines

Present Situation: [As of August / September 2018]

According to the QCI report, 76.45 per cent of the households have access to a toilet in the rural areas
and out of the people with had access to a toilet, 91.29 per cent of the people used it.

We’ve recorded our full analysis on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as to what can be done in order to improve
the situation on the ground.

There is.

Before the Swachh Bharat Mission, there was lesser awareness about cleanliness and hygiene.

But now, cities and states in India are competing against each other to come out as the cleaner state or
city. This competition definitely does increase the quality (which is cleanliness here).

Plus if you visit Hyderabad, Indore, Nagpur etc and compare then to times before Modiji's Swachh
mission, you'll know they weren't as clean as they are now.

Another great example is of Mumbai. Because of the Swachh Bharat mission, a lot of people (Even
celebrities) are creating awareness and also cleaning Mumbai. If you want proof, check the pictures of
Versova Beach earlier and now.
