PART OF SPEECH

Part of speech merupakan bagian-bagian mendasar dalam suatu kalimat. Part of

speech dibagi menjadi 8, yaitu: Pronoun, Adjective, Noun, Conjunction, Adverb, Verb,
Interjection, Preposition atau biasa disebut dengan mudah yaitu PANCAVIP.

P (Pronoun) : kata ganti = She, He, I, Our, Us, Yourself, It

A (Adjective) : kata sifat = Beautiful, Cute, Ugly, Small, Sad, Big
N (Noun) : kata benda = Bag, Cup, Apple, Pillow
C (Conjunction) : kata hubung = And, Or, But, For
A (Adverb) : kata keterangan = Here, There
V (Verb) : kata kerja = Accompany, Speak, Go, Drive
I (Interjection) : kata seru = Oops !, Hahaha... Hi !
P (Preposition) : kata depan = In, On, At, By, Without

 Untuk subject (I, You, They, We) verbnya tanpa s/es dan auxiliary yang dipakai adalah
“Do”.
 Untuk subject (She, He, It) verbnya menggunakan s/es dan auxiliary yang digunakan
adalah “Does”.
 Aturan penambahan es / s ketika diikuti subjek (she, he, it dan name of person) :
1) Jika kata kerja berakhiran dengan huruf desis (ch, ss, sh, x, o) maka ditambahkan
“es” .

2) Jika kata kerja yang berakhiran “y” dan didahului huruf konsonan maka huruf “y”

THE BEST AND THE WORST

Joe Sanders has the most beautiful garden in our town. Nearly everybody enters for„The
Nicest Garden Competition‟each year, but Joe wins every time. Bill Frith's garden is larger
than Joe's. Bill works harder than Joe and grows more flowers and vegetables, but Joe's
garden is more interesting. He has made neat paths and has built a wooden bridge over a
pool. I like gardens too, but I do not like hard work. Every year I enter for the garden
competition too, and I always win a little prize for the worst garden in the town!

Reading Text

Anggun is helping to cut some onions, chilies, carrots, potatoes and other vegetables. She is
also writing her grandmother‟s recipe. She plans to make chicken soup at home next Monday.
She is making the chicken soup for her mother. Next Monday is her mother‟s birthday.

An hour later, Chiya and grandparents have finished eating chicken soup. Now, Chiya is
listening to her grandfather‟s story. Chiya also loves listening to her grandpa‟s story.

Her gandpa has many stories about life, joke, culture and many more. Now, Chiya with
grandmother are listening to one story of The Arabian Nights (1001 nights). They‟re enjoying
their time together.
