Summary: The engine can experience power rollback due to reduced fuel flow as a result of a
leak in the Fuel Control Unit (FCU) bellows. Replace the hydromechanical FCU with a
new one which incorporates a more robust P3 bellows design and an air flow
deflector to prevent P3 air impingement on the bellows.

The intent of this service bulletin for the PT6A-65AG Engine has been transferred

1. Planning Information

A. Effectivity
PT6A-65AG TRANSFERRED.
PT6A-65B Engines Post P&WC SB No. 13196.

B. Concurrent Requirements

None.

C. Reason

(1) Problem

The engine can experience power rollback due to reduced fuel flow as a result of a
leak in the FCU bellows.

(2) Cause

The FCU P3 bellows can leak as a result of material irregularities.

(3) Solution

Replace the hydromechanical FCU with a new one which incorporates a more
robust P3 bellows design and a flow deflector to prevent P3 air impingement on the
bellows.

D. Description

Replace the FCU with a new or modified one.

E. Compliance

For all PT6A-65B engines installed in agricultural aircraft post P&WC SB No. 13196.

CATEGORY 3 - P&WC recommends to do this service bulletin within 500 flight hours
or within one year from date of issuance of revision no. 1 whichever
occurs first.

F. Approval

D.O.T./D.A.A. approved.
G. Manpower

No more man-hours are necessary to include this service bulletin at overhaul.

Once you have access to the part, an estimate of 1.0 man-hours is required to include
this service bulletin at maintenance.
