1 New Features of ELCAD/AUCOPLAN Version

7.11.0
When developing version 7.11.0, the emphasis was among other things on implementing
the central renaming of plant, function and location in ELCAD projects.
The combination of batches and reports to reusable "processes" now enables you to cre-
ate all kinds of combinations of derived documents in a single automatic sequence. The
project throughput is thus further automated.
Another highlight of the present version is the basic multilingualism of
ELCAD/AUCOPLAN, with runtime language switchover. This considerably facilitates work
in a multilingual environment.
Over and above that, we have again meticulously analyzed your requirements and wish-
es and used them to filter many new features of version 7.11.0. The new version offers
optimized views, many operating steps become more efficient, and access to the relevant
object becomes even easier.
As always, the main focus of all extensions is on the compatibility of your data and easier
handling.

1.1 General Innovations

1.1.1 Multilingual Operation from the Start
In contrast to earlier ELCAD/AUCOPLAN versions, the present version 7.11.0 is automati-
cally installed multilingually on your PC. Thus the time-consuming retroactive installation
of additional languages via a separate installation is no longer required.

Selection of the User Environment

During the first start of ELCAD/AUCOPLAN 7.11.0, each user can select which user en-
vironment he wants to create for himself. On the one hand this selection specifies the
language to be used for the first startup.

On the other hand the selection of the user environment also makes sure that the com-
plete data as well as the user configurations are appropriately preset.
The switchover of the environment is user-related. Different users may work on the same
computer with different user environments.
When selecting the US American user environment (ANSI), then the representation of
the ANSI libraries and concomitantly the configuration with inches as basic units is acti-
vated.
Please note that you should not use the ANSI configuration with inches together with
metrically defined projects and symbols.

Runtime Switchover of the Program Language

You can now change the language of the ELCAD/AUCOPLAN program interface at
runtime. A few clicks, and you have changed the language.
With the language selection under Extras / Language..., you change the
ELCAD/AUCOPLAN language for the current user. What is changed is the language of
the user guidance texts and the Help files. The languages German, English and Italian
are supplied with the delivery.

Select the language of your choice and confirm your selection with OK. You then get a
program message telling you that ELCAD must be restarted to activate the changed set-
ting. Exit and restart ELCAD.
The selection of the program language has no effect on your configurations and selected
projects. The languages set in the projects also remain unchanged.
The language switchover is also user-related. Different users can therefore work on the
same computer using different languages.

1.2 New Features in Project Editing

1.2.1 Central Renaming of Plants, Functions and Locations
Starting with version 7.11, you can centrally rename plants, functions and locations
online in ELCAD type projects. Due to the comprehensive manipulation of the project
caused by renaming, in multiuser operation renaming is possible only if the project is
edited exclusively by only one user.
Renaming is started via the menu items "Rename Designation Block" in the main menu.

Only hitherto unused designations are permitted as new designations for plants, func-
tions and locations.
The renaming causes all subordinate objects to be renamed.
• If the cable management is switched on, then the affected cables including the
specified destination information are also adapted.
• The terminal diagrams created via the terminal diagram configuration are automati-
cally updated with renamed blocks.
• Entries in title blocks are automatically changed. If the designator to be changed is
listed on the management levels, then the drawing will be renamed.
• For symbols of the type 2 and non-evaluated symbols there is an adjustment if the
required information (code numbers 1-3 and 5-7 respectively) is specified in the
symbol.
• Free texts are adapted only if the text contents correspond precisely to the plant, the
function or the location to be renamed.
• Derived documents created via batch action or "Export to Drawings" are not
adapted. For this purpose you must update the respective lists and re-export them.

1.2.2 Process Editing: Collective Execution of Batches and

Reports
With the present version 7.11, we present the new feature process editing, the collective
execution of batches and reports.
Process editing permits recurrent operating steps that must be carried out in a defined
order to be carried out one by one. Thus you can use idle times of the computer, e.g. the
lunch break or the night, to carry out time-consuming processing operations.
For this purpose first create a process and name it. For this the system folder "Processes"
is available in the Drawings tree.
To specify actions for a process, click on the process symbol, then select the menu item
PROPERTIES in the context menu.

The subsequent dialog offers you the following possibilities:

[Actions] Here you can add process actions.

[Delete] Here you delete the selected process action.
[Up] Here you move the selected process action up-
wards in its order of execution.
[Down] Here you move the selected process action
downwards in its order of execution.
[Execute] Executes the selected process in the specified
sequence.
[Finish] Terminates editing of the process action and
closes the dialog.

The following actions are available as process actions:

• Create Cover Sheet/Drawing

Enables you to have a drawing automatically created.
• Execute Batch
Here you are then offered the batches available in the project.
• Create Terminal Diagram Variant
Here you are offered the terminal diagram variants configured in the project set-
tings.
• Regenerate Lists
Here you can select one or more lists to be regenerated.
• Export to Drawing
Here you can select one or more protocols for the export to drawings.
• Export to File
Here you can select a protocol for the export to files.
• Change Export Language
Here you can temporarily change the translate configuration specified in the project
for the following process action. This change applies only to the following process ac-
tions, the translate configuration of the project is not changed.

To facilitate filename generation when executing processes, the following

keywords are at your disposal for different export functions:

@PROJECT@ Keyword for the project name

@DATE@ Keyword for the current date

@TIME@ Keyword for the current time

With the icon in the toolbar you can also start several processes.

1.2.3 Configuring User-Specific Views of the Drawings Tree

Since version 7.10, you can sort the Drawings tree according to your specific needs. With
version 7.11, you can now also pre-assign 10 corresponding configurations in the op-
tions.
To do this, you specify in each case a code number and a meaning. For this purpose, use
the option "User-specific Code Number" under EXTRAS / OPTIONS / PROJECT / DRAW-
INGS.

By means of the comment and the code number, you can then select the user-specific
configuration in the Drawings tree.

1.2.4 Sorting Out Terminal Diagrams Can Now be Called from

Different Positions
You can now call the sorting out function for terminal diagrams from different parts of the
program:
• In the Drawings tree of the project
• In the toolbar, you can call the function via the icon .
• In the item editor with separate display at "Blocks/Terminals".
• In the item editor with common display at "Devices / Blocks / Potentials / Other".
• In the item editor at a plant, a function, a location or a piece of equipment.

1.2.5 Extended Numbering of Drawings

You can now have all sheets of a selected folder and its subfolders numbered consecu-
tively. For this purpose the function Number in the drawing editing tab has been ex-
tended.
The menu item is active only if you are in drawing editing and a project is selected but no
drawing is open. The hitherto available numbering per project and per group remains at
your disposal.

1.2.6 Simplified Processing of the Error List

The processing of the error list has been further simplified. Thus you can now navigate to
the drawing with the selected error directly from the error list dialog, thereby enabling
you to remedy complex errors directly in graphic editing.

1.2.7 Additional Storage of a Server Project as ZIP Archive

When using the server project actions "Set up Server Project" and "Restore Server Pro-
ject", you can now automatically create a zip archive file of the project in the same step.
Upon calling the function via EXTRAS / SERVER PROJECT / SETUP or EXTRAS / SERVER
PROJECT / RESTORE, the dialog "Project Relocation and Restore" is opened.

If you here activate the option "Additional Zip Archive - Create", then a zip archive with
the complete contents of your project is created and stored on the server in the folder
where the server projects are managed.

1.3 New Features in Drawing Editing

1.3.1 Printing Zoomed Sections
In drawing editing, a new printing option has been available for several previous ver-
sions, which is here described for the first time. Via the menu item PRINT CURRENT
ZOOM you can print the zoomed section currently specified in the drawing. This function
is also available as command "PL(ZOOM)".

1.4 New Features in Symbol Editing

1.4.1 Extended Printer Output of Symbols
In symbol design, the printer output for symbols has been extended. With the menu item
File/Output/Symbol/Plot or the command PL, you get the following dialog:

Here you can choose whether to output the symbol with maximum zoom or in the current
view. Moreover you can choose whether instead of the normal view, the text placeholders
and the consecutive numbers of the dialogs and pins are to be printed.
If you use the menu item File/Output/Symbol/Plot with text placeholders, the text place-
holders are also printed without further inquiry.

1.5 New Features of the Item Editor

1.5.1 Displaying the Sorting Numbers of Terminals
From version 7.11 on, you can also have the sorting number (code 44) of a terminal dis-
played in the item editor. You can configure this in the user or project settings under Au-
tomatic/Strips/Terminals/Plugs.

1.6 New Features in List Editing

1.6.1 The New Status List "Symbols Used"
The new status list "Symbols Used" is meant to offer you a survey of the symbols used in
your projects. If you want to know whether and if so how often a certain symbol has
been used in a project, you can create a status list of the type "Symbols Used".
This status list lists every representation of the symbols used, with the symbol type, the
macro, the symbol library as well as the precise sheet designation and the coordinates in
the sheet.
If so desired, you can restrict the status list to defined symbol names. You can optionally
specify whether the list of used symbols is to also include lists and terminal diagrams.

1.6.2 Extended Output of the Contents Table as Drawing

When outputting the contents table as drawing, the selected contents table is now re-
generated and output repeatedly. Thus it is ensured that all sheets of the contents table
itself are also included in the contents table list.
If you do not use this functionality, you can deactivate it via the following switch in the
aucotec.ini:

1.6.3 Status List of the Markings with Notes on Origin

The status list of the markings now also tells you the origin of the marking, i.e. whether
it stems from the document or the symbol. Now also included is the editing date the
marking symbol. The new information is available after the next regeneration of the "Sta-
tus List Markings".

1.6.4 Changing Comments on Lists

From the current version on, you can now change the comments for lists in list editing
and comments for assignment lists in the working area Input/Output Components. For
this purpose click with the right mouse button on the list symbol and select "Change
Comment".

1.6.5 Outputting Comments on Status Lists

You can now pass the comments entered for status lists to the title block when exporting
lists to drawings.

1.7 New Features in Cable Editing

1.7.1 Extended Creation of Cable Assignment Lists
From version 7.11 on, the core destinations are always updated before creating the cable
assignment lists, so that the list always corresponds to the current project status.
You can deactivate the function via the following switch in the aucotec.ini:

1.8 New Features in Input and Output Components

1.8.1 Cutting Assignment List Links
Depending on the application, it was up to now not always sufficient to reset a PLC sym-
bol and to drag a PLC address from the item editor onto the symbol if one wanted to re-
scind the link to the predecessor and to newly associate the address.
Therefore you can now use the Options to specify code numbers for cutting links, whose
contents are automatically also emptied when executing the function. You can specify
these settings either project- or user-related.

1.8.2 Extended Representation of the Input/Output

Components in the Equipment Tree
For the colored representation of the I/O information in the equipment tree, the infor-
mation from the symbol type is now also consistently taken into account.
Main representations are always shown in yellow and secondary representations in green.

1.9 New Features in Batch Processing

1.9.1 The Batch Action "Drawing Filter" Extended to All
Symbols
Using the action "Drawing Filter", you can further restrict the drawings defined in a batch
by comparing the content of a defined code number with the form. With the present ver-
sion, you can now compare the drawing filter with all symbols.

To do this, first specify a code number and a content to be compared.

As relational operators, you have the choice between = (equal), < > (unequal) and $
(contained in).
Finally you specify whether the text is to be compared only with the form symbol or with
all symbols on the sheet.
A drawing filter is valid for all subsequent actions. If you select new drawings for the
batch, then the drawing filter is deleted. A specified drawing filter is also valid for the
EDM interface.
