Smart card merupakan kartu yang memiliki prosesor dan memori di dalamnya. Prosesor dan memori ini
berfungsi untuk menjalankan perintah yang diberikan pengguna dan menyimpan data. Pada era digital saat
ini, teknologi smart card digunakan dalam berbagai bidang kehidupan, salah satunya adalah sistem
administrasi kependudukan. Smart card multiaplikasi dapat digunakan untuk menyimpan berbagai dokumen
kependudukan dan informasi penting individu, seperti rekam jejak medis. Untuk mendukung kartu identitas
penduduk yang multifungsi, diperlukan desain smart card yang memiliki sistem operasi multi-aplikasi dan
fitur keamanan tingkat tinggi menggunakan Security Access Module (SAM), dan arsitektur yang mendukung
kedua fitur tersebut. Dengan sistem operasi multi aplikasi, smart card dapat digunakan untuk berbagai
aplikasi yang berbeda, sedangkan fitur keamanan

tingkat tinggi yang dilengkapi SAM diperlukan untuk menjaga kerahasiaan data individu yang disimpan di
dalam smart card.

Deskripsi Alternatif :

Smart card is a system on chip that is composed by microprocessor, memory, and so on. A smart card is able
to execute commands given by the user as well as store data. Currently, in the digital era, smart card
technology has been used in many aspects of life, e.g. citizenship administration system. A multi-application
smart card can be used to store citizenship documents and personal data, e.g. individual medical record.
Multi-application personal identification smart card needs multi-application operating system and high
security level, using Security Access Module (SAM), as well as compatible hardware architecture. The multi-
application operating system is used to store many applications in a single smart card,

while the security feature using SAM keeps the stored individual-data safe, ensuring it will not be leaked to
public.
