Abstract —
Wireless network provides mobility. The ability to make a call
from anywhere you can access a wireless network connection
is convenient and productive. This lab test is on enhancing the
network to serve wireless client in Packet Tracer.
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Wireless IP phones provide communication mobility to users
within the WLAN environment. Unlike cellular phones that
have broad coverage, the coverage area for the wireless IP
phone is smaller; therefore, phone users frequently roam from
one AP to another. To understand some of the limitations of
roaming with wireless IP phones, these examples provide
information about the WLAN environment.
The WLAN is an integrated end-to-end solution that uses
wireless IP phones and APs, network infrastructure, network
management, and mobility services. APs are critical
components in a WLAN because they provide the wireless links
or “hot spots” to the network.

2.0 DISCUSSION
In this lab, we connected Home VoIP with Switch0. We then
connected Access Point to Switch0. The AP will provide the
wireless link to enable connection between the end devices with
the network. Once the AP is set up, multiple end devices are
then connected wirelessly to the network as client.
1. Do you need a wireless card?
Yes, a wireless card is needed. For the end device to connect
with the network wirelessly, a wireless card is attached to the
devices (laptop).
2. List all the new equipment required.
 Home VoIP
 Access Point
 Tablet
 Printer
 Smartphone
 Laptop (with a wireless card)
3. Do you need to change any configuration on CME, CME-
helper and switch?
No. No changes have been made on any of the configuration,
except adding on IP phone 3 directory number 54003 at IP
Phone 0.
4. List the steps required to set up the wireless access point.
Connect the access point to the Switch0 and the link is
established by itself automatically. All the client is connected
wirelessly through the access point.
5. Did you manage to make a call from other telephony devices
to the Cisco IP phone? If yes, justify your answer. If no, justify
your answer
Yes, because the IP phone 3 directory number with 54003 was
added at IP phone 0.
