NERVOUS SYSTEM

 Create a concept map of the nervous system.

I have done in my notebook.

 What are the main functions of the nervous system?

The main functions of the nervous system are:

- Receives the information transmitted by the sensory organs.
- Interprets the information (prepare adequate function)
- Transmit the necessary signals to the effector organs.
- Coordinates all the organs
- Carries out intellectual and mental functions.
- Responsible for our emotions and feelings.

 CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM:

o What is the main function of the central nervous system?
It is made up of nerve centres, which are responsible for integrating
information received, coordinating and preparing a response.

o Which structures are responsible of protect the central nervous

system?
They are protected by the skill and the spine. There are three membranes,
called meninges, between the protecting bone and the organs.

 Draw and label the internal structure of the spinal cord. Which are the two
main functions of the spinal cord?

Is drawn in my notebook. They have two functions: 1. It produces reflex actions,

(happen due to a response to a stimulus, without the brain participating) 2. Carries
sensory nerves impulses towards the brain and motor nerve impulses from the
brain to the effector organs. (Brain receives and send the information)

 Complete the following chart in your notebook. What does it represent?

PITUITARY STEM CEREBRUM

CEREBELLUM
MIDBRAIN
PROTUBERANCE
SPINAL BULB
 Draw the cerebrum and label: the cerebral cortex, the intergyral, the
fissures, the right and left hemispheres, the corpus callosum and the lobes.

 Which parts of the nervous system perform the following functions:

o Memory, reasoning, intelligence, conscience and will. Heartbeat,
blood pressure and breathing.
o Auditory reflexes and blood pressure.
o Logical and analytical thinking.
o Intuition and creativity.
o Balance and information of the inner ear.
o Motor impulses sent to the brain.
o Coordination and control the function of every part of the nervous
system.
o It receives information from the sensory organs and produces the
corresponding sensations.
o It processes information received and produces responses and
signals for the effector organ.

 PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM:

 What is the peripheral nervous system made of?
 Which different types of nerves have you studied depending on the nerve
impulse?
 What is the somatic nervous system? What are their main functions? Draw
a nephron and label its parts.
 What is the autonomic nervous system? What is the relation with the
sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems?
 Complete the following image:
 What is the main difference between reflexes and voluntary actions
