Course Title: Management Information Systems


Code: BMIS 301

Prerequisite: BMGT 202

1-Course Description and Objectives:

This is the introductory course in management information systems. The course


provides the basics of management information systems. The course focuses on
managing the digital firm, information systems in the enterprise, electronic
commerce, enhancing management for the digital firm, and redesigning the
organization with information systems.

The course aims to provide students with the general knowledge of information
systems necessary for Business student. The course strives to enable students to
demonstrate basic knowledge and have practical skills and personal attributes
and competencies that are required for managing information technology based
organizations.

Course Objectives:

A. Provide student with the technical and organizational foundations of managing


information system resources.

B. Provide students with the different types of information systems.

C. Provide students with the different types of enterprise systems

D. Provide student the picture of the digital management and organization.

E. Provide students with tools and techniques of information systems analysis.

2-Intended Learning Outcomes of the Course


(ILOs):

(A) Through Knowledge and understanding, students will be able to:

(K1) Acquire the basic knowledge of business information systems


(K2) Recognize how has the Internet and Internet technology
transformed business
(K3) Examine what are the major management challenges to building
and using IS
(K4) Identify a wide range of principles and tools available to MIS
Professionals
including CASE tools, programming languages, case studies,
software packages
(K5) List The professional and ethical responsibilities of information
systems;
(K6) Show the principles and techniques of a number of research areas
such as databases, decision support systems, information management,
projects management, Data Mining

(B) Through Intellectual Skills, students will be able to:

(I1) Analyze different theories, principles and concepts relevant to


managing the digital firm.
(I2) Compare between tradition business model and internet business
models
(I3) Solve a wide range of problems related to the analysis, design and
implementation of Management Information Systems;
(I4) Contribute in design and implement software systems in the field
Business

(C)Through Professional and Practical Skills, students will be able to:

(P1) Apply different concepts of information systems into business


organization
(P2) Demonstrate the ability to understand the conditions for using the enterprise system
(P3) Evaluate different aspects of management which are relevant to the information sys
function of an organization
