Preparation
Foundation surface
“The substrate surface must bo free from oll, grease or any
toosely adherent material. Concretelaitance shouldbe removes
Using low impact seabbiing or wth needle guns tothe degree
‘whore aggregate is starting to show.
Bolt holes of fxing pockets must be blown clean of any dit or
dobre, Bol holes shouk also be roughen up using mechanical
Pro-sosking
‘Several hours prior to grouting, th area of cleaned foundation
‘shouldbe looded wit rash water. Immediately bafore grouting
{akes place, any fee water shouldbe removed. Partcuar care
shouldbe taken to blow out all bolt holes and pockets
Base plate / grout interface
‘essential thal hiss clean and tree from of, grease, scale,
Paint or coating of any kind. Air pressure rll holes should be
provided to alow veriing of any isolated high spots.
Levelling shims
It these are to be removed after the grout has hardened, they
shouldbe trated with a thin layer of grease,
Formwork
‘The formwork should be constructed to be leakproof as,
CConbaxira HF Is a fre flowing grout. This esn be achieved by
Ling foam rubber srp or Construction Slicone* beneath the
Cconstrcted formvork and betwoon joins
In some cases its practical to use a sacrificial semi-dry sand
‘and cement formwork. The formwork should include outlets for
the pre-soaking water.
“The unrestrained surface aroa ofthe grout must be kept to #
minimum. Generally the gap width betwean the perimeter
formwork and the plate edge should nat exceed 150 mm on
the pouring side and 50 mm on the opposite side. Thore should
be no gap atthe ank sides.

Mixing
For bast results a mechanically powered grout mixer should
be used. A forced-action mixar Is essential. Mixing at a slow
speed (400/500 pm) stably sized drum using appropriate
‘equipment such the Ransom 140 x 600 M4 Hoical mixing

Larger quantities wil require a high shear vane mixer. Do not
use a collldal impeller mixer.

{is adequate to enable grouting operation to be cared out
continuously. This may roqulro the use of a holding tank with
provision for gonile agitation to maintain ticity.
“Tne solected water content should be accurately measured
into the mixer. Slowly add the total contents of the Conbextra
HF bag, mix continuously for § minutes, ensuring a smooth,
‘oven consistency is obtained,
Deeper grout pours
Where grout gap depth isn excess of 125 mm up to 500 mm,
Conbestra Deep Pour should be used.
Piecing,
Place the grout within 15 minutes of mixing to gain the full
benef ofthe expansion process.
CConbextra HF can be placed in thicknesses from 10 mm upto
425 mm ina single pour when used as an underplate grout
Ware the grouting gap beneath the baso plate exceeds the
‘maximum thickness allowed, then the grout can filed / bulked

For larger pours the grout may be hand piaced or pumped Into
8 removable hopper (rough).
‘Sulficlent grout must be avallable porto starting andthe time
{akon to pour a batch must be regulated to tho time taken to
prepare thenext one, Continual grout pour musi be ensured
‘Tho mixed grout should be poured only from one side of the
‘old to ekminate the entrapment of alr or surplus pro-soaking
\aler. This is best achieved by pouring the grout across the
shortest dletance of travel.
‘The grout head must be maintained at all times so that 2
‘continuous grout font a achieved.

Pumping
‘Where arge volumes have tbe placed Conbextra HF may be
pumped. A heavy duty diaphragm pump Is recommended for
{tis purpose. Screwfeedandplsion pumpemay alsobesutabie,
‘Maximum aggregate is 2.5 mm, Ensure pump is capable of
‘pumping this size aggregate
Curing
‘On completion ofthe grouting operation, exposed areas should
bethoroughly cured. This shouldbe done bythe usBof Conoure
‘A99 curing membrane or wet hessian,
jeaning
CConbexira HF should bo removed from tools and equipment
with claen wator mmeciately ter use, Cured material can be
removed mechanically.

Limitations
Low temperature working
When the airor contact sufoce tamporatures are 5°C or below
‘onatling thermometer warm water (30-40°C)lerecemmended
to accelerate strangth development
For amblont temperatures below 10°C the grout consistancy
shouldbe fowable andthe formwork should be maintalned in
place for at least 26 hours.
[Normal precautions for winter working with cementitious
‘materials should then be adopted.
High temperature working
‘At ambiont temperatures above 36°C the mixed grout should
be stored In the shade. Cool water (below 20°C) should be
‘used for mixing the grout.
