Ms. Beverly Girard, PhD, MBA, RD

Sarasota District Schools Dietetic Internship
101 Old Venice Road
Osprey, FL. 34229

Dear Ms. Girard,

When looking through the possible internships in Florida, yours immediately caught my attention. I was excited to
see your focus on pediatric and community nutrition, both of which are interests of mine. I am currently attending
the University of North Florida Nutrition and Dietetics accredited program and will be graduating with my
Bachelors in the spring of 2019 and hope to match to your internship at the completion of my degree.

During my college career I have been involved in many diverse opportunities that have broadened my knowledge
and background. I have been a mentee to two dietitians, one of whom owns her own private practice where I
gained skills in how to market and how to build up a possible private practice of my own one day. Another was a
shadowing opportunity with a renal dietitian who showed me the ins and outs of daily tasks conducted within a
dialysis facility. These daily task included finding ways to motivate patients to meet goals and allowed me to be
creative in my teaching and motivational interviewing. As a Village Greeter for a DaVita Dialysis facility I was also
able to assist with patient centered celebrations which allowed me to prepare and serve renal safe food while
providing educational games and contests. I was also trained in ICD 10 billing for a MNT practice which accepted
referrals for patients with CKD stages 3 and 4 and diabetes. I have also volunteered with an organization called
Feeding NE Florida both in their food bank and their mobile food pantry so I could witness the behind the scenes of
the operation and interact with the recipients of the food. I have also worked in an assisted living facility where I
was wait staff and made trays for the residents. Occasionally I would train new employees, which taught me how
to be a leader in the work setting and also how to work with those around me as a team member. Although, it was
my experience with the YMCA that developed my interest in working in pediatrics, with families, and in the
community. While these are some of my experiences, the resume enclosed will have additional information about
the opportunities I have been fortunate enough to be part of which each taught me about myself and the future
profession of dietetics.

I am confident that I would be a great fit for your internship. I love to learn and gain new experiences in the field of
dietetics while also being a team player and understanding my role in the clinical, community, and food service
areas. Feel free to call me at (352)228-0130 (my cell phone) or email me at n01242844@unf.edu if you have any
questions and/or would like to set up an interview. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Acadia Wyckoff
