CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.SRT.B.4
Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: a line parallel to one side of a triangle divides the other two proportionally, and
conversely; the Pythagorean Theorem proved using triangle similarity.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.SRT.B.5
Use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.SRT.C.6
Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric
ratios for acute angles.
-How can you prove similarity of triangles through similarity and proportionality theorems?
-How can congruence, side ratios, and other properties of triangles prove similarity?
Unit Summary:
In this unit students will be learning how to define and prove similar triangles using various properties, theorems, and other
mathematical concepts. In this unit they will use their prior knowledge of triangles and build upon that knowledge to solve equations. This
unit will provide students with the digital tools and links to help them achieve their learning objectives. Some of the links that are included
are also activities that promote a fun learning experience. The activities include an interactive presentation, a webercise, the use of the IXL
website for practicing with peers, and more. The interactive activities will prove to be a helpful way in learning while enjoying it.
