Jeff Jhon Roberts essay “ This App Guy Thinks Computer Science Degrees Are A
Waste Of Money” makes two main points. First, How University computer science department
are in miserable shape of being 10 years behind in a field that changes every 10 minutes.
Second, He implies that getting a computer science education and degrees is not neccesarry for a
would be developers. While we agree with his statement that state university computer science
department are left behind. We disagree with Jeff’s opinion that getting a computer science
degrees is not important for would be developers.

Jeff’s opinion that says university computer science department are in miserable shape
of being 10 years behind in a field that changes every 10 minutes. We believe that it is true and
relevant with today’s technologies development. While computer science is an always changing
field together with the technologies development. This field would eventually adapt and change
following the world’s need. Furthermore, In university they teach students only how to design a
operating system, but not how to work with a real development team and how to adjust with
today’s needs. Also those who attend the computer science education school and bootcamp are
unliked to have the natural chaos to be a good developer in a first place.

Jeff’s other opinion that says getting a computer science degrees is not important or
would be developers, we believe that it is wrong. Although, we agree that university computer
science is left behind, there some things that people can get with attending computer science
education that are important and could be useful such as experience and connection with people
that are aksi in this field. Computer science is a knowledge and a skill that can be self taught and
probably those who learn it autodidactly have more talent and natural chops of being a good
developers, still attending educational things such as schools and bootcamps would eventually
widen your knowledge and social connection.
 To summarize, while we agree that computer science department are in miserable
shape. We disagree that getting a computer science degree or attending schools and bootcamps
are not important for would be developers. We believe that Jeff’s way too short. In our opinion,
getting a computer science degree would bring many benefits, such as getting experiment and
developing social skill to work with other that are in the same field.
