Lesson: Deadlift Introduction Time: 70 Minutes
SLOs:

Exercise and Conditioning 9 is a locally constructed option that does not operate off of a
government constructed program of studies specific to the course.

Instructional Objectives:

Knowledge:
Students will…
1. Learn the proper steps to prepare for and execute and traditional deadlift

1. Participate in a guided, low weight walkthrough of deadlift technique, as well as
other primary strength training routines designed to increase coordination and
conditioning.

How do we set ourselves up properly for a deadlift?

Materials:

Barbells, Training Plates, Rubber Plates, Barbell Racks, Squat Cages, Dowel Rods,
Plyo Boxes, Bench Press, Electronic Timer, Clipboard, Phone

Preparation and Safety:

Fitness Centre Environment: Before beginning activity in the fitness centre, run
students through a brief orientation of what to expect within the facility. Walk
students around the entire facility and show them all the different components and
pieces of equipment present within. Again, go over the safety policy within the
fitness centre. Roughhousing and fooling around has a zero tolerance policy. If you
can’t handle the responsibility, you will be removed. Be aware of students not
following policies, identify lesson specific hotspots prior to starting.
Lesson Procedure:
