We live in a time when start-ups and Information technology has become part and parcel of our
daily life. A new start-up pops up every day, giving rise to a growing need for technical talent. While
there are several online portals and recruitment services that help scout and find the necessary
talent, they aren’t effective when it comes to pure tech teams and developers. The recruitment
process is purely resume based with little exposure to candidate’s soft skills and personality. Hence,
these services aren’t exactly effective to get an understanding of whether a candidate is suitable or
not.

What does an applicant’s resume show up? Only what the applicant wishes to display – his
education, experience, and basic interests. But what about his actual skillset or on-the-job expertise?
What about his soft skills and his personality?Hiring is not the same for every company, as each one
has different priorities and requirements.There are very few companies which are actually able to
find a legitimate techie perfectly suitable for its firm’s specialized requirements.

It was the union of three friends -Naren Krishna, Hari Krishna, and Ashish Kumar Sahoo, who
identified this crucial issue in the hiring process and realized that it would be a good idea to create a
portfolio creation tool for developers. They decided to do a non-stop 48-hour hackathon and built a
prototype and launched it. In this way, they founded the company-Stockroom.io in May 2015. On
October 2015, the company was launched officially on product hunt and emerged as one of the top-
most voted product on this platform.

About Stockroom.io:
Stockroom.io was founded by Naren Krishna (CEO) and Ashish Kumar Sahoo (CTO). Naren is an
alumnus of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, and Ashish is an alumnus of IIIT
Bhubaneswar.PuruModani, who is a part of Mumbai Angels screening committee and a seasoned
angel investor is part of Stockroom’s advisory board.
Stockroom.io is a talent acquisition platform powered by technology, which enables companies to
host online challenges and in-person hackathons, assess the candidates in order to help them find
niche talent.Companies can also use their assessment tool to filter developers in a seamless and
automated fashion. It gives a detailed report and rating on every participating candidate to the
companies, in order to help them speed up the hiring and shortlisting process. In addition to this, a
company can personally talk to every participant via phone to get a better idea about them.
Stockroom has developed its own backend algorithm which rates a developer according to the
company’s requirements. Many factors right from the candidate’s social data, experience,
willingness to relocate, educational background and personality test are considered in order to rate
a developer.
So far stockroom.io has more than 30,000+ developers registered on its platform and 84,31,000 lines
of code. The team recently raised Pre-Series A funding from Mancer Consulting Services, one of
India's top recruitment consulting firm. .

Road Ahead for Stockroom:

Stockroom is planning to go aggressive on Assessment platform and Remote interview tool for the
next few months. Their focus only on India market is for the Online/Offline Coding challenges.
Stockroom’s current competitors HackerEarth, HackerRank, Codility are focussed mainly on Indian
and USA market. But the belief is that there is a lot of scope for expansion in the APAC market and
ASEAN countries. Stockroom’s pricing is way lesser than other competitors.
