OPERATION IN SURGICAL WARD dr. ABDUL AZIZ SINGKAWANG 2017

ABSTRACT

In 2012 surgery in Indonesia increased to 1.2 million people, according to WHO (2013). The
number of surgery patients between January to December 2015 in the Operating Theater dr.
Abdul Aziz amounted to 1,111, the number of patients between buan January to September 2016
amounted to 802 patients for surgery, an average of 85 patients per month are operating. Type of
surgery is the most common type of surgery that there were 60 patients who underwent surgery,
and the type of surgery in obstetrics and gynecology gained 25 patients who underwent surgery or
operation.
The purpose of this study to determine whether there is a relationship between the level of
education of nurses with patient anxiety pre-surgery in the operating room Dr. Abdul Aziz
Hospital Singkawang 2017.
This type of research is quantitative research with this type of study Analytical correlations,
using cross sectional design with the aim to determine whether there is a relationship of
independent variables (education nurse) to the dependent variable (the level of anxiety) in unit
time (Dharma, 2011) and one measurement using a measuring instrument in the form of a
questionnaire. The sample in this study is that patients in the preoperative surgical ward dr. Abdul
Aziz Singkawang on 6 to 18 March, 2017, which amounted to 30 people. Sampling technique used
in this study using total sampling. Data was collected by using observation. While the analysis is
univariate analysis in the form of a frequency distribution and bivariate using Chi-square test.
The results showed respondents were given a good education nurses will not experience the
level of anxiety to the act of surgery. From the statistical calculation with a value of chi square p
value of 0.000, which means that the value is smaller than the significance value is 0.05, so Ha is
received.
The conclusion from this study that there is a relationship with the nurse education
preoperative anxiety levels of patients in surgical wards. The better the education of nurses, the
level of anxiety in the face of surgery is also on the wane even no anxiety. Suggestions for nurses
in order to increase preoperative patient education pre operation of the operation, for example by
educating the general knowledge of the operational procedures and efforts to alleviate anxiety in
the face of surgery.
