INTRODUCTION

The Traffic Pulse network is the foundation for all of Mobility

Technologies® applications. This network uses a process of
data collection, data processing, and data distribution to
generate the most unique traffic information in the industry.
Digital Traffic Pulse® collects data through a sensor network,
processes and stores the data in a data center, and
distributes that data through a wide range of applications.

1. Sensor network :- heart of the technology

2. Data streams :- way of processing data
3. Data transmission :-optical cable, satellite etc.
Sensor Network
Def :-A sensor network consists of spatially distributed autonomous sensors to cooperatively
monitor physical or environmental conditions. They are now used in many industrial and civilian
application areas, including industrial process monitoring and control, machine health monitoring,
environment and habitat monitoring,  home automation, and traffic control.

In addition to one or more sensors,

each node in a sensor network is
typically equipped with
a radio transceiver or other wireless
communications device, a
small microcontroller, and an energy
source, usually a battery. The cost of
sensor nodes is similarly variable,
ranging from hundreds of dollars to a
few pennies, depending on the size of
the sensor network and the
complexity required of individual

Traffic Parameters

Ø Flow rate (volume), occupancy, and density

Ø Count, presence, and passage
Ø Speed of individual vehicles and platoons of vehicles
Ø Queue lengths
Ø Approach flow profile
Ø Approach stops
Ø Link travel time
Ø Origin-destination pairs

A given sensor generally does not output all types of traffic

Tools offered by traffic pulse
technology
* Telematics - for mobile professionals and others,
Mobility Technologies traffic information
complements in-vehicle navigation devices,
informing drivers not only how to get from point A
to point B but how long it will take to get there —
or even direct them to an alternate route.
 * Media - for radio and TV broadcasters, cable
operators, and advertisers who sponsor local
programming, Traffic Pulse Networks provides
