Scope of API 682 / 3 Objectives - 1.3

• Inner seals should run for at least 25000 hours

• Arrangement 1 seals should not allow more than


1000 ml/m³ (1000 ppm vol) of emission leakage
concentrations (measured by EPA Method 21)

• Containment Seals should run for at least


- 25000 hours at 1,7bara (25psia) max
- 8 hours at full process conditions

SUITABLY TESTED PRIOR TO ITS
MARKET AVAILABILITY
THE INTENT IS NOT TO TEST EVERY
INDIVIDUAL SEAL SIZE IN ALL FLUIDS,
BUT TO QUALIFY THE OVERALL
DESIGN”
