A day trip for members and friends of First Church is planned for Friday, October 29 to the Blue Gate
Restaurant and Theater in Shipshewana, IN to see the play, “THE CONFESSION: AN AMISH LOVE PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
STORY” based on the book by Beverly Lewis. We will go by chartered bus leaving at 8:00 a.m. following
coffee and donuts at church. The cost of the bus, dinner and show will be $60 per person. There will be Pray this week for our city, state and national elected offi-

entrusted them to our children’s ministry leaders we ask that each week a parent or designated adult register/
sign in your child and pick up him/her at the end of class. There will be a check in sheet at the entry point of
each classroom. Also, Please note the time changes! 2 & 3 years old – 11:00 -11:45 – in Room L10. 4 years old

Coffee and Current Events: Grab a cup of coffee and join facilitator, Bruce Eckert, in the library every Sunday
for an informal discussion of current events and their relationship to our life and faith.
Adult education is suspending its usual electives for the purpose of everyone focusing on one common theme
from the book of Colossians about the supremacy and sufficiency of Christ. During the Sunday School hour
we hope you will attend a discussion group based on the book of Colossians and Pastor Dan’s sermon for the
day. Please go to either Room L6 or L11 where a designated facilitator is assigned to help lead the
conversation. In addition to reading Colossians some of you may be reading , The Jesus Manifesto. If you
would like to enter into a discussion about that book as well as Colossians please go to Room L17.

revisiting those that haven't gone so well? The Rev. Randy Smit will be teaching a Sunday School class the
month of November on COMPASSIONATE COMMUNICATION: Connecting from the Heart. Rev. Smit
will help you to: find ways to express your self, discover practical ways to strengthen your relationships, and
transform anger and conflict. It is possible you could bring more harmony at home, effectiveness at work, and

an ordained RCA Pastor, has worked with congregations for the past 10 years, and is a former Professor of

for those who are able to help offset the cost. This year we have a separate menu for the adults and the kids
and as always, dessert and salad bar. On the adult menu (10/20): ham, au gratin potatoes, mixed vegetables
and on the kids menu: macaroni and cheese.
CADETS: We are planning out first annual FIRST CHURCH CADET CAMPOUT, Saturday, October 23-
Sunday, October 24 at the Cadet Campground on the north side of Holland. Additional information forms are

MARTHA CIRCLE: At the last meeting of the Martha Circle those present decided to change the name to
WOMEN OF FAITH BIBLE STUDY. Any women interested in Bible Study and fellowship are welcome. The
