strength / weaknesses, Strengths: Sts already know the T and already know each other (since it is already
nationalities, mixed abilities) their 4th session in English class), they get along well with each other, they enjoy
activities and games, they are already familiar with simple rules and instructions
set by the T during the first session (e.g. sit, stand up, quiet, listen, stop, repeat)
Weaknesses: They tend to use their L1 in class since they are monolingual and are
all still beginners from the English class, they may still struggle with pronunciation,
tend to be fairly boisterous and playful in class
Aims of the lesson In this lesson, sts will learn five new vocabulary words under transportation and
travel:
a) Car
b) Boat
c) Bus
d) Train
e) Plane
Secondary aims of the lesson They will also learn to incorporate the new vocabulary words learned in a simple
dialogue.
E.g. Q: “What is ____ riding?”
A: “ ___ is riding a ___”

Anticipated difficulties  They may struggle with pronunciation of the new vocabulary words learned
especially with Plane and Train
 They may have difficulty forming sentences out of the new vocabulary words
learned
 They may have difficulty remembering the vehicles that they have not yet
actually seen in real life

Strategies to overcome difficulties  Use chorusing and drilling to make sure that they get the correct
pronunciation of words
 Use chorusing, drilling and elicitation of the sentences to be taught
 Use both realia(actual vehicle toys) and actual photos of car, bus, boat,
train, plane

Materials to be used  Printed flashcards of car, bus, boat, train and plane cut into two to make a
puzzle
