1 Overview
1.2 Introduction
The ATS is an automatic AC switching system that integrates control and power distribution
modules. Three ATS models are available, namely, ATS-63A1, ATS-63A2, and ATS-63T1. In
the description of common features, a simplified name ATS is used. In the description of their
differences, a full ATS model is used.
The following table describes the differences among the ATS-63A1, ATS-63A2, and
ATS-63T1.
The ATS supports and detects the inputs from two power sources (DG 1 and mains or DG 1
and DG 2) and switches between the two power inputs. The power source can switch to DG 1
by turning the bypass switch. The ATS has the following functions:
Provides one AC distribution, one 10 A AC output, and one maintenance socket output
(optional) for loads.
Provides a bypass switch, by using which power source can switch to DG 1.
Monitors the voltage, current, frequency, and power factor of three-phase outputs.
Protects mains and DG against overvoltage and undervoltage.
Generates alarms for mains open phase and DG open phase.

After the ATS main control box is powered on (including hot and cold resetting), the working scenario is
controlled by the DIP switch. After the ATS main control box is connected to the host, the working
scenario is controlled by the host, and the DIP switch becomes invalid.
DG 1+mains mode
− If the mains is normal, the ATS switches to the mains. Then the loads are powered by
the mains.
− If the mains is faulty, the ATS sends a startup signal to the DG. The DG connects to
the loads for power supply.
− If the mains recovers, the ATS switches to the mains after a delay check and shuts
down the DG.
− The cycle continues based on actual situations.
DG 1+DG 2 mode
− During initial operation, the ATS checks DG 1 contactor. If the contactor is in good
condition, the ATS sends a startup signal to DG 1. After the DG 1 output reaches the
specified value, DG 1 returns a control signal to the ATS. Then the ATS connects DG
1 to the loads for power supply.
− When the DG 1 operating period expires or DG 1 experiences a fault (for example,
contactor fault, overvoltage, or no voltage), the ATS sends a startup signal to DG 2.
After the DG 2 output reaches the specified value, DG 2 returns a control signal to
the ATS. Then the ATS connects DG 2 to the loads for power supply.
When operating Huawei equipment, you must follow the local laws and regulations.
Installation and maintenance personnel must be trained to perform operations correctly
and safely.
To prevent electric shocks, get the tool insulated and wear insulation gloves when
connecting cables.

Prerequisites
The following steps may result in power failures or alarm generation. Before and after
operations, inform the alarm center.
The commissioning involves various technologies. Only trained personnel are allowed to
perform commissioning. Perform operations strictly in compliance with commissioning
instructions.
The commissioning is performed with power on. During commissioning, stand on dry
insulating objects, and remove conductive articles such as watches and bracelets. Use
insulated tools.
During operations, do not contact two electric bodies with different currents.
When you are performing operations, attach the label "Currently being serviced. Do not
switch on." to the power distribution device to prevent others from performing
operations.
During commissioning, shut down the device immediately if any fault is detected.
Rectify the fault and proceed with the commissioning.
3.1 Power-on
Procedure
Step 1 Check that power cables, communications cables, signal cables, and ground cables are
correctly and securely connected.
Step 2 Measure the DG or mains input circuit breaker on the ATS using a multimeter and ensure that
at least one AC input is available.
Step 3 Check that the transfer switch is AUTO.
Step 4 Switch the DG 1 input circuit breaker and mains/DG 2 input circuit breaker to ON.
Step 5 Check that the ATS AC output is normal.
Step 6 Check that the ATS communicates with peripheral equipment properly.
In scenarios with an ECC500 and ATS-63T1, the setting value of System AC Type on the LCD of
ECC500 must be set to Three Phase regardless of the ATS-63T1 AC input type is three-phase, dual–live
wire or single-phase.

5 FAQ
Symptom
The ATS has no AC output in Bypass mode because the DG shuts down.
Cause
In Bypass mode, the mains/DG 2 AC input circuit breaker is ON. If the mains resumes, the
ATS generates a DG 1 shutdown signal because it determines that the mains is preferred. As a
result, DG 1 shuts down and the ATS has not input.
Solution
Step 1 Disconnect the communications cable between the ATS and DG 1, and restart DG 1.
Step 2 After DG 1 starts, switch the mains/DG 2 AC input circuit breaker to OFF.
Step 3 Check whether the ATS generates AC signals.
Step 4 If no, check the cable connections or contact the maintenance personnel.
After the Bypass mode becomes normal, perform other maintenance tasks.
----End
Step 4 Switch the mains circuit breaker (in the DG 1+mains scenario) or DG 2 AC input circuit
breaker (in the DG 1+DG 2 scenario) to ON.
Step 5 Turn the Bypass switch to AUTO.
----End
A Appendix
The ATS generates real-time monitoring data and reports the data over protocols. The
following table describes the data.
