RATIONALE
This lesson will allow students to gain a deeper understanding of the holocaust. They will
understand that the events of the Holocaust happened to individuals, and that it happened
incrementally. They will also begin to understand some of the cause and effect of the Holocaust.

LEARNING INTENTIONS
By the end of this lesson students will know some of the events of the Holocaust. Also, they will
begin to understand the cause and effect.

PRE-REQUISITE CONCEPTS AND SKILLS

Students have already been introduced to the Holocaust with their reading.

- Timeline handouts
- Projector
- Note-taking sheet

DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION (ACCOMODATIONS)

Students will be working collaboratively as a class to create the timeline, so students will have
the help of their peers.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

Students will submit their note taking sheets. Also, they will be asked to create a written
response regarding the cause and effect of the Holocaust.

They will then view the
timeline and fill in their
notes sheet as to what
they noticed.
Students will be out of their 5 mins
desks, walking around for (intro)

activity. Time limits should
be firmly established for
how long it will take them
to attach their card to the
wall, as well as look at the
timeline and fill in their
note taking sheet.
