TEA|LTE 2.2.

3 – GA Release Notes

12 January 2010

These release notes for TEA|LTE 2.2.3 – GA contain information about known/late-breaking issues and possible
workarounds for those issues.

Please contact tealte.support@witech.it for support and to report any additional issue you might discover.

System Requirements
Minimum RAM and Processor speed for Windows Vista

A minimum of 3 GB of RAM and a minimum processor speed of 2.00 GHz on a Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor is
needed with Windows Vista. Lower RAM and processor speed could slow down considerably the application
performance and could also cause the Flash Player embedded in the software to display a warning message
inviting the user to stop the loading when launching the application [“A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash
Player 10 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort this
script?”]. In this event, ignore the warning clicking on the NO button, to let the system proceed with the load. Note
also that some of the system's RAM physical memory may be unavailable due to being used by the graphics card
and/or not being handled by the system’s chipset.

Installation and Updates

Installation issues with TEA|LTE certificate in a Windows Vista environment

Windows Vista users could have installation issues during the TEA|LTE certificate installation. In order to correctly
continue the installation process, Vista users will have to disable UAC (see the User Guide for a step-by-step
description of the procedure).

Automatic Software Update issues with special or particularly stringent security settings

A connection to Internet is required for the automatic software Update to work (see the User Guide). Special or
particularly stringent security settings (including firewalls and antivirus) can sometimes prevent the software to
access the network. In this case, seek the support of your IT department to change the security settings temporarily
until the Update procedure will complete successfully.

Information Messages
Pop-up information message about Mozilla Firefox

Launching TEA|LTE when Mozilla Firefox is running will cause the displaying of the following message: [“Another
instance of Firefox is already running. Please close other instances of Firefox before launching Mozilla Firefox,
Portable Edition”]. This because TEA|LTE cannot be started if other instances of Mozilla Firefox are open. In this
event, close any previously opened Mozilla Firefox window before launching again the tool. Otherwise, if the alert

1
message is still displayed, open the Windows Task Manager, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys, select any process
named firefox.exe and click on the "End Process" button in order to terminate any Mozilla Firefox process.

Pop-up information message about Microsoft .NET Framework

Running TEA|LTE in some Windows Vista environments will sometimes cause a pop-up information message like
“Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.0. Adds ClickOnce support….” to appear in the upper left-hand part of the
first page every time the first page is opened. This message is for information only and can be ignored or closed.

Backward Compatibility
Project Files created with TEA|LTE 2.2.2 cannot be imported in TEA|LTE 2.2.3

The Project Files created with TEA|LTE 2.2.2 cannot be imported in TEA|LTE 2.2.3. A manual off-line conversion
procedure needs to be run.

Other Issues
Need to set of all input parameters for each year of the chosen analysis period when creating a new project

When creating a new project, it is necessary to set all input parameters (penetration rate, roll out rate, churn rate
etc.) for each year of the chosen analysis period to obtain a correct performance evaluation of all economic and
financial outputs.

Rounding of output data for number of Enhanced Node B, Logical Sectors, and Radio Links

Output data for number of Enhanced Node B, Logical Sectors, and Radio Links is rounded with a precision of +/-1.

The upper range of percentages in the axis of certain charts sometimes is set to a value above 100%.

The upper range of percentages in the axis of certain charts sometimes is set to a value above 100%. In all cases,
the diagram is correct.

Page remaining white-empty or not loading completely

Due to a recently discovered bug in the Mozilla Firefox browser (part of the TEA|LTE integrated run time
environment) it might sometimes happen that a page remains white-empty or does not load completely after having
performed an action (e.g., clicked a button). In this event, first check that the “plug cord” icon in the lower-left corner
of the page is not representing a disconnected plug of a red color, in which case click on it once to turn it green and
representing a connected plug, and then reload the page positioning the mouse pointer on the upper part of the
screen (i.e., in between the TEA|LTE logo and the WiTech logo) and, alternatively, pushing F5 on the PC keyboard
or doing a right mouse click and selecting Reload.

Firefox Offline mode message

2
Due to a recently discovered bug in the Mozilla Firefox browser (part of the TEA|LTE integrated run time
environment) it might sometimes happen that a page does not load and a pop-up information message [“Offline
Mode – Firefox is currently in offline mode and can’t browse the Web…” ] appears on a grey-empty page after
having performed an action (e.g., clicked a button). In this event, first check that the “plug cord” icon in the lower-left
corner of the page is not representing a disconnected plug of a red color, in which case click on it once to turn it
green and representing a connected plug, and then reload the page clicking on the Try Again button in the pop-up
message.

Delay in stopping the play button in the Scenario & Sensitivity Analysis

In the Scenario & Sensitivity Analysis section of the tool, all data can be entered by means of both a standard data
box and a play button. This last allows exploring automatically the values of the range. With certain low-end
hardware configurations, the play button can show a delay in stopping it that will make its use difficult to control. In
this event, it is suggested to change the values in the data box manually.

Handling more than two antenna elements

In order to take into account enhanced NodeBs and user equipments with more than two antenna elements at the
transmission and/or reception side, it is necessary to set properly the gains in the “Multiple Antenna System” section
of the tool. Up to six different MIMO configurations both in Down and in Up Link can be managed.

No warning message when overwriting an existing project file

Beware that no warning message is displayed when you overwrite an existing project file with a new project file with
the same file name.

Superimposed data on multi-series line charts

In multi-series line charts, series are specified by different colors (not by different markers). Therefore, series that
represent same data are superimposed.

Opening a Report saved as an .html file with Word (or similar) does not load the figures.

Opening a Report saved as an .html file with Word (or similar) does not load the figures. Use the Print Screen
button in the PC keyboard and Microsoft Paint (or similar) to capture the figures of interest from the tool pages and
cut and paste them in your customized reports and presentations.

Save will not be applied to the current page unless you reload it

If you do not move to a new page after the Save button has been clicked, you will need to reload the current page
to have your changes applied. To reload the current page, position the mouse pointer on the upper part of the
screen (i.e., in between the TEA|LTE logo and the WiTech logo) and, alternatively, push F5 on the PC keyboard or
do a right mouse click and select Reload.

Save as button does not save changes

Clicking the Save as button creates a new project file from the currently loaded project but does not save any
change made after the last save. To overcame this issue, first create the new project file with the Save as button
then apply your changes to the new file and save them normally with the Save button.

3
Creating a new project from an existing one and, at the same time, reducing the originally set number of
geographical areas and/or service profiles can sometimes hang the application.

Creating a new project from an existing one and, at the same time, reducing the originally set number of
geographical areas and/or service profiles can sometimes hang the application if the Save as button is clicked from
one of the internal analysis pages. To prevent this issue, click instead the Setup button to go into the Project Setup
page and load the project file again (the project you are currently working on is already displayed in the scroll-down
menu windows), then click the Save as button in the same page and proceed with assigning a name to the new
project, reducing the number of geographical areas and/or service profiles and, finally, clicking on the Save button.
Remember also that reducing the originally set number of geographical areas and/or service profiles will cause the
application to delete the corresponding number of geographical areas and/or service profile in the lower part of the
list (e.g., let us assume that in the existing project you had 3 geographical areas - named Town 1, Town 2 and
Town 3 - and in the new project you wanted to reduce the number of geographical areas to only 1, then Town 2 and
Town 3 would be deleted).

Setting of new parameters when creating a new project file from an existing one

When creating a new project file from an existing one (clicking the Save as button in the currently loaded project
file) make sure you properly set with your chosen values all parameters of any newly defined Geographical Areas,
Service Profiles, enhanced Nodes B and User Equipments.

Setting Upper and Lower Limits in the Scenario & Sensitivity Analysis

Be careful to set the Upper Limit first and then set the Lower Limit after (to avoid the Lower Limit being overwritten
to zero).

Deleting a project can be done only deleting the corresponding file directly in the application directory

To delete a project, access the directory TEA-LTE\Apache\cgi-bin\TEA\data and delete the file with the
corresponding name. Be careful not to delete other files.
