SPELMAN COLLEGE IS A
HISTORICALLY BLACK WOMEN’S
COLLEGE LOCATED IN THE HEART OF
ATLANTA, GEORGIA. THE LIBERAL
ARTS INSTITUTION IS KNOWN FOR ITS
TOP-TIER PROGRAMS IN THE ARTS
AND SCIENCES.
STACEY ABRAMS, THE DEMOCRATIC
NOMINEE FOR GOVERNOR IN
GEORGIA, GRADUATED FROM
SPELMAN IN 1995. AFTER WORKING IN
GEORGIA STATE POLITICS FOR OVER
A DECADE, SHE WAS AWARDED WITH
AN HONORARY DOCTOR OF LAW
DEGREE FROM THE COLLEGE IN MAY
2017.
STUDENTS AT SPELMAN HAVE BEEN
HEAVILY INVOLVED WITH THE
STACEY ABRAMS CAMPAIGN. IF
ELECTED, ABRAMS WILL BECOME THE
FIRST BLACK FEMALE GOVERNOR IN
THE UNITED STATES.
